The opening ceremony for TAMASHII NATION (Soul Nation) 2017, a figure exhibition event organized by Bandai's Collector Division, took place on Thursday, November 30, 2017.
TAMASHII NATIONS is the collective name for the Collectors Division's brand of high quality figures for collectors, which boasts the No. 1 market share in the figure industry. Since its launch in March 2008, the company has sold approximately 4,000 figure products.
The company holds an annual event with the same name as the brand, showcasing the entire Soul brand, including the latest items as well as items scheduled for release in the future.
TAMASHII NATION 2017 will be held in Akihabara, Tokyo, from December 1 (Friday) to 3 (Sunday), 2017. Since this is the 10th anniversary of "TAMASHII NATION," in addition to the regular exhibition at the Akihabara UDX Building, there will also be an exhibition at the Bellesalle Akihabara venue where visitors can trace the 10-year history of the "Soul Nations" figure brand.
A ceremony was held at the Akihabara UDX Building to mark the beginning of this milestone event.
Guests with ties to Soul Nations took to the stage, and new featured products and future business developments were unveiled for the first time.
Opening Ceremony with Gorgeous Guests on the Stage
Masaru Kawaguchi, President and Representative Director of Bandai, took the stage as the representative of the organizer. He announced that sales of "TAMASHII NATIONS" products are increasing not only in Japan but also overseas, and commented that the company is aiming for further growth in the future.
He also announced three new initiatives for TAMASHII NATIONS: In May 2019, a directly managed TAMASHII NATIONS store will open in Akihabara. The launch of a frequent flyer service for TAMASHII NATIONS users. A new brand logo mark will be established to be shared worldwide. We can expect business development that is even closer to the users.
Next, actor Tetsuya Iwanaga, who plays Dan Reito/Masked Rider Genm in "Masked Rider Ex-Aid," and actress Rio Uchida, who plays Kiriko Utajima in "Masked Rider Drive," took the stage as TAMASHII NATION 2017 Special Ambassadors.
Along with their comments, they introduced 10 new products filled with the "future" of "TAMASHII NATIONS" that will be exhibited at this event.
In addition, approximately 200 items will be on display at the Bellesalle Akihabara venue, offering a panoramic view of the "history" of TAMASHII NATIONS, as well as special figures arranged by celebrities. Of course, both ambassadors participated in this project, and Iwanaga introduced the display of his character Dan Reito and a large number of Masked Rider Genm, saying "beautiful ......" and pretending to be Dan Reito. He introduced them as "beautiful " and drew laughter from the audience.
Finally, the ribbon was cut to commemorate the opening of "TAMASHII NATION 2017!
