What does that mean?" Interview with Uesaka Sumire, who sang a character song for the character "Kurei Satoshi" (a.k.a. Prosei-chan), full of program terminology!

Pro-Student Programming Live Broadcasting (Pro-Student) holds IT study sessions in various locations throughout Japan. The community's character "Kurei Satoshi (Pro-Student-chan)" is a high school student at a public high school in Tokyo. His club activities include the Information Processing Society. He also likes to be physically active, and when the mood strikes him, he sometimes joins the gymnastics club to play various sports. The voice of Kurei Satoshi, who is active as a character in the programming live broadcast, is voiced by popular voice actress Uesaka Sumire.

Akiba Research Institute visited the recording studio to learn more about the recording of Kurei's character song. We asked Uesaka-san about her impressions of the recording.

In addition, Akiba Research Institute has started a campaign to win a colorful paper signed by Uesaka, so please check it out as well.

⇒[ Present] Campaign to win a colorful paper autographed by Uesaka Sumire, who sang the character song of "Kurei Kei" (a.k.a. Pro-Sei-chan) has started.

───First of all, could you tell us about the character Kurei Satoshi, a.k.a. "Pro Sei-chan"?

Uesaka Sumire (Uesaka): She is a friendly high school girl who loves programming, works hard at it day and night, and often calls out to "you" (the user). When I recorded her system voice for the time signal, I found that she gets excited around midnight. She takes both the good and the bad in stride, and even when her computer dies, she says, "Let's take good care of the next one.

───Now, please tell us your impression of the character song that was recorded today.

Uesaka:
I have recorded various voices for Pro-Shyou-chan in the past, but I don't think I have ever sung for her. I think the content of the song is a wonderful song that is full of Pro-Show-chan's typical science song or MOSAIC.WAV's catchy cuteness. (*)

(*MOSAIC.WAV was in charge of overall direction and arrangement)

─ How did you feel when you heard that Pro-Shyou-chan's character song was going to be released?

Uesaka
: At first, I only received a demo and thought it was just a cute song, but I was surprised to learn that it was arranged by MOSAIC. On the contrary, I was surprised that there had never been a character song before. I have been playing the character for a long time, so I was glad to see a milestone or a new aspect of the character.

─ I guess it must have been a difficult song, but could you tell us about the lyrics and your thoughts when you received the song?

Uesaka
: "What does it mean? and I sang it without really understanding the meaning of the lyrics. ...... (laughs). (Laughs.) The program terminology is the heart of Pro-Show-chan, so I sang with a lot of confidence, but I thought there were a lot of program terms and it must have been hard to write the lyrics, so I can imagine the many hardships that went into this song. I thought it would be pop and very cute when it was finished.

─ Were there any difficulties in the recording?

Uesaka:
I thought it would take a long time because there were two different types of vocal harmonies (high and low), but the song itself was easy to get used to, so it wasn't that difficult. There were a lot of words I didn't understand in the lyrics (laughs), but I managed to sing them.

─ Is that because you have been working with MOSAIC.WAV?

Uesaka: I had always listened to MOSAIC.WAV's music and liked it very much, so it was familiar to me, or rather, it had a familiar atmosphere, like the original Akiba Pop.

─ Do you have a favorite phrase or lyric?

Uesaka: After the recording of the song itself was finished, there was a rushed choreography. It was an order for a science-based voice, and I thought it would be difficult, but we recorded it. At first it was ad-libbed by me, but in the end, the staff thought up a lot of lines and it should be in the final form, so I hope you will listen to it. I hope you will listen to it. I am sure that a version with the voice will be made, and I would be happy if you could listen to it.

─ What do you think is the best part of the song?

Uesaka: I like the interlude. It's psychedelic, but it's not a silly song; it has intelligence. It has an algorithmic feel to it. (Laughs) It's like a radio song, but it's a song that shines with its intelligent and intelligent verses, so I hope you can experience the mid-tempo excitement of the song.

─ Were you conscious of any aspects of the song that were different from other character songs, or were you conscious of any aspects that were different from other character songs?

Uesaka: There were parts where the pitch was low, but I was careful not to make it too dark because Pro-Show-chan has the image of an energetic girl. I was surprised that she sang, since I didn't have an image of her as a singer. I was surprised to hear her sing, but I did my best to make her happy and cheerful, assuming that she is a girl who likes to sing.

─ You said that you were surprised to hear that a professional singer would sing, but did you discover anything new in this character song?

Uesaka: There is nothing dark about it. In my mind, I had an image of programmers living in the shade, or staying up all night long, but in the image of this song, I found that they lead a rather healthy life. I saw a new side to her, that she is a healthy child whose body is not affected by computers, and that she is such an active child.

───This song must have had many difficult phrases, but did you have any guidance on the content?

Uesaka: Come to think of it, there wasn't. ...... (laughs). We just recorded it smoothly and finished it. ......

─ ─ (laughs).

Uesaka There is a lyric, "I'm waiting for a 'response,'" and if you are waiting for a response, then you must have done something. I think that even with my poor Japanese language skills I managed to get through it, because if there was something different from the meaning I received, I would have been told so (laughs). Even though I've been doing proseminars for years, I can't remember any terms at all. I think it would be great if there was something like ...... a collection of simple programming languages that proseminars could teach me.

─ ─ That would be great.

Uesaka: And maybe with a CD that explains it all. How about that? (laughter)

───Now, please leave a message for us.

Uesaka: Pro-Show-chan finally sang a character song! For some reason, I had always thought that Pro-Show-chan was not a good singer, but it turned out to be a really cute song. I think it's a perfect song for programming, created from the types of songs Pro-Show-chan has developed over many years of programming, so if programming is a part of your life, I hope this song will motivate you to reduce errors. And please sleep well! (Laughter)

Thank you very much!
