The first location test of "Fate/Grand Order Arcade," a new arcade game in development, was held in Akihabara, Tokyo, from December 8 (Fri.) to December 10 (Sun.). Prior to the location test, Ayako Kawasumi, who plays the role of Arturia Pendragon, Yosuke Shiokawa, creative director of "FGO PROJECT," and Kimihiro Ijin, development director of the game, took the stage at the "Fate/Grand Order Arcade Presentation" held on December 7 (Thursday) to discuss the game. Fate/Grand Order" is a popular RPG for smartphones, set in a world where the future is lost and players, now masters, must travel back in time with Servants, or Heroic Spirits, to confront human history in order to protect mankind. In addition, the full-length TV anime special "Fate/Grand Order -First Order-" was broadcast at the end of 2016.

On Saturday, July 29 this year, at "Fate/Grand Order Fes. 2017 ~2nd Anniversary~" held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, the new project of the smartphone RPG "Fate/Grand Order" ("FGO") "Fate/Grand Order Arcade" was announced at the "Fate/Grand Order Fes. 2017 - 2nd Anniversary" with a PV, and the speakers started by recapping the event. Kawasumi, who was on stage that day and listened to the announcement with the audience, expressed her expectations for the project, saying that "it's like a dream" to be able to hold the "Saint's Graph" (the name of the cards in the game) from the "FGO" game as actual cards and to see the characters in action.

The two staff members said that it is no exaggeration to say that they planned this work because they wanted to make actual cards, and their expectations for this yet-to-be-seen game are growing even higher.

At this point, a new key visual for the location test and the cabinet, which had been veiled until this point, were finally unveiled.

The new key visual depicts Altria Pendragon in the center, creating a dynamic visual that evokes the battle theme of the arcade. The key visual, newly drawn by Takashi Takeuchi and eight other illustrators who are in charge of original Servant illustrations, even features "that" character who surprised the audience with his unexpected entry, so be sure to check it out on the official website.

The video contained a variety of information that was previously unavailable, such as the height difference and the size of the doll, which could not be seen in the "FGO" series.

Finally, Mr. Kawasumi decided to try playing the game on an actual machine.

Kawasumi-san, who said she was not good at games, looked nervous as she took on the game, but this game is designed for people who are not good at games and have only played smartphone games. Therefore, Ms. Kawasumi had time to play the game while sharing her impressions, and she cleared the game without incident. To his surprise, the first playthrough went smoother than he had planned, and he decided to try a second time. This second play also went well! After playing on the actual machine, Ms. Kawasumi commented that the game was exhilarating and enjoyable even for beginners.

The game is designed to be played with a single button, and the viewpoint automatically turns toward the enemy, so that even beginners who are not good at games can play with ease. Ijin-san said that the game is "low level, but has many elements that can be enjoyed if you want to master it. Ms. Shiokawa, on the other hand, seemed to be watching with some trepidation whether Ms. Kawasumi, who is not good at games, would really enjoy it, and was relieved to see that she was enjoying playing.

The presentation ended with a message from Mr. Kawasumi asking the audience to look forward to the game going live.

The next location test of the game will be held at the Japan Amusement Expo 2018 (JAEPO) on February 10 and 11, 2018 at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall, so those who were unable to attend the location test this time should definitely visit that event.
