I was born in 1960, when Astro Boy started flying in the sky. I grew up with Japanese TV animation, so to speak. I grew up with Tatsunoko Productions' works like a shower. I think it is no exaggeration to say that we were nurtured by Tatsunoko Productions, including various enlightenment and education.

When I was asked to play the role of Dr. Nambu, I was very happy, but at the same time I felt nervous. The voice of Dr. Nambu in the original version was done by Toru Ohira, and it would be impossible to talk about Tatsunoko Productions without mentioning Mr. Ohira. As a fan of anime, I can understand why people might have an allergic reaction if the original image is destroyed. However, it is not possible to imitate Mr. Ohira, and Dr. Nambu himself has been modernized and made more dandy-like. It was really a solitary struggle to find a way to create a Dr. Nambu that would not cause rejection when people of my generation came to the theater, while also adding my own originality.
