Pray for the big hit of "Mr. Takagi, the Karakajite" at Takagi Shrine! Special collaboration will be held from December 30, 2017.

Prayers were held at Takagi Shrine in Oshiage, Tokyo, to pray for the success of "Mr. Takagi, the Karakagee," which will begin airing in January 2018.

The manga "Mr. Takagi the Karakaide" is a popular manga serialized in "Gessan" (Shogakukan) by Soichiro Yamamoto. It is a love comedy depicting the casual interaction between "Takagi-san" and "Nishikata-kun," two junior high school classmates. The story depicts the daily life of Takagi-san, who teases Nishikata-kun with his suggestive attitude, and Nishikata-kun, who is interested in Takagi-san despite being pushed around by him.

The prayer was held not only because the name "Takagi" is the same, but also because the company enshrines a god of marriage, which is a good match for this work, a romantic comedy. Director Hiroaki Akagi, Riyo Takahashi, who plays the main character Takagi, and Yuko Ohara, who sings the OP theme song "I'm not going to tell you. and other staff members participated in the event and prayed for the success of the film.

Here are some comments from the staff and cast after the prayer in a solemn atmosphere.

The special collaboration project between this film and Takagi Shrine will also start on December 30, 2017 (Sat.) Why not visit Oshiage for your first visit in 2018?

Official comments】 (*敬称略略)

--Please tell us how you feel after praying for a hit.

Director Akagi: I was really surprised to see the Takagi Shrine, and I am filled with a desire to be honored by it.

Mr. Takahashi: I was happy that we were able to meet at Takagi Shrine during the year-end and New Year holidays, when we could get into the spirit of "let's do our best next year". I would be happy if people would decide to watch the "Mr. Takagi" anime or visit the Takagi Shrine after learning that there was a prayer for a hit at the shrine. I also hoped that Takagi-san all over Japan would be happy (laughs).

Ohara-san
This was the first time for me to participate in the hit prayer, and I prayed with my wishes in mind. And the "omusubi (*)" at the Takagi Shrine were so cute that I wanted to come back again.

*Takagi Shrine, which enshrines Takamimusubinojin, has ema (votive picture tablet) and amulets with "omusubi" motifs.

--Please tell us about your impression and attraction of "Mr. Takagi, the Master of Teasing".

Director Akagi: The first story I read was about "cleaning duty," and I was fascinated by Mr. Takagi's dialogue that changed the atmosphere toward the end. From that point on, I wanted to see how Nishikata and Takagi view the world, so I continued reading.

Takahashi-san When I read your work for the first time, I was instantly drawn in by your worldview. I am more than happy that we are able to create a TV animation based on that world. I hope that we can somehow convey the wonderful atmosphere of the original work to everyone who is watching it. I also think that Nishikata is the one who brings out the charm of the original work.

Ohara-san I originally read the original work and loved it, but I never thought I would be asked to sing the theme song, so I was really happy to write the song. As a viewer, I am looking forward to the broadcast.

--Please tell us what you were particular about in the making of the film.

Director Akagi: The story is told from Nishikata's point of view, but I was conscious of Takagi-san's point of view when I was making the film, and I drew it as if I was loving him. The trio of "Ashita wa Satsuwa Satsuwa" (Tomorrow is Saturday) are also interestingly intertwined, and I think it is an enjoyable work.

--Please tell us about the recording studio.

Takahashi-san The composition is divided into detailed parts, but after each part is tested, everyone is smiling and saying, "Itchy, isn't it? It's like they are all enjoying the atmosphere of Nishikata and Takagi-san. In the anime, it is just the two of them, but at the recording site, everyone is watching over us as we record.

--What were you conscious of when writing the lyrics for the OP theme and what is the point of listening to it?

Ohara-san Before writing the song, I talked with the staff and read the original story again. I tried to create a bouncy melody with a sense of youth, an image of a sound that makes you want to skip without thinking, and since Takagi-san never says he loves Nishikata-kun, I made sure to keep that perfect sense of distance and nuance in mind. I am conscious of catchy phrases that can be hummed by young and old alike, so I hope people will listen to it.

--Please give a message to your fans.

Director Akagi: We are making a fun film anyway. Please help us make Takagi-san, who teases and Nishikata-kun, who is teased, funny and smiling.

Mr. Takahashi: A lot of staff members worked hard on how to make a good tease and how to show it in a 30-minute film, which will run for a whole school term, so I am sure you will enjoy the film every week. I hope you will watch over us and make fun of us a lot. Thank you very much.

Ohara-san As a fan, I hope to enjoy the broadcast with the viewers and spread the word about "Mr. Takagi, the Master of Teasing" through the music. Thank you very much for your cooperation.
