Here are some comments from them.

Official Report of "Death March Kara Hajimaru 2018"] (*Honorific titles omitted)

--First of all, as it is January 1 of the New Year, what are your aspirations for 2018?

Horie: To put it plainly, we will sell a lot! (laughs) I would like to make this year a year of leaps and bounds, and I would like to push forward so that I can have the opportunity to do lots of publicity for "Death March~"!

Kono: This year is the Year of the Dog, and my role is Porgy, so I want to run through the year like a dog! (laughs) I'll be gung-ho!

Hayase: Since we are starting on the first day of the year (January 1), it's a good start (for "Death March~"). We will put all our energy into selling "Death March"! Sell it! I want to sell it! Lulu is a good cook, so I want to improve my cooking skills. I eat hot pot six times a week, so I would like to improve my cooking skills, not only in "cutting" and "boiling" but also in "stir-frying" and "steaming".

-- Please tell us about the highlights of this work.

Horie: The storyline changes with each episode. The first episode had powerful battle scenes and everyday scenes. The first episode was a classic "otherworldly" story in which the characters are lost in a different world and have to fight their way out, but the "color" of the story changes from there. Not only battles, but also sightseeing in another world, heartwarming scenes, etc.... It's like, "This is what's going to happen next week! The story is going to be a rush of events, so please don't miss it!

Kono: There are a lot of screens that look like you are playing a game. You can feel that feeling you had when you were little and thought, "I want to enter the world of video games! I can feel that feeling I had when I was little! It's like playing a game and watching someone playing a game on the side, so it's a win-win situation (laughs)!

Hayase: It's wonderful that it's animated and has BGM and so on! I think those are the major elements that make you enter into the different world. I would like to see how the main character, the rejuvenated 15-year-old Satu, and the adult Satu will interact with each other in the future!

--What do you think of the characters you played?

Horie: The character of Satu (Ichiro Suzuki) is not like the main character in a novel, but has the general education of a working adult and has solid interpersonal relationships. The character is calm and has a mature side. I had to do about three different voices, mixing the adult version with the teenage version (in the game) and other monologues. When I first received the script, I was like, "Wow! I was like, "Oh my God! (Laughs) Every week, I was battling with the script, and it was a very challenging character to play.

Kono: (On this day, Kono-san appeared as Pochi with "ears" in his hair!) Pochi-chan is really cute. She is a dog-eared slave, so at first she is a bit scared, but she turns out to be an innocent, cheerful girl who smiles a lot. She eats rice and meat with great relish. She often hangs out with Tama-chan (CV: Kaya Okuno), so when she's with Tama-chan, she's energetic and cute all at once (laughs)!

Hayase: (About her role as Lulu) At first glance, she looks like "the black-haired pretty girl," the kind of cute girl that idols would run away from in a normal world, but in another world, her appearance is considered ugly, and because of that, she has a pitiful past and is shy and withdrawn. She is a shy and withdrawn girl. She loves her younger sister, Alisa (CV: Yuuki Aoi), who is a kind and reserved girl. She also loves Satu, and is an interesting girl who explodes with girlish emotions and fantasies, so I hope you will pay attention to her.

--How was the postrecording?

Horie: It was difficult because I had to switch between the adult and teenage versions, but at the same time, I had to maintain the consistency of being the same person inside, even though I have a different voice. There is a lot of dialogue, and I have to stand in front of the microphone all the time. The atmosphere on the set is often one of sharing and talking about a single topic, even during breaks, and we all laugh while doing it.

Kono: I just started acting this year, so I had no idea what to expect. I thought the scene where Pochi eats meat was fascinating, and I wanted to make it cute! I wanted to make it cute! The week of recording, I dared not eat meat, but went out to eat with friends the day before and while my friends were eating meat, I was eating vegetables. (laugh). (I was allowed to eat only the last piece of meat and savored the deliciousness of it. That is how I faced Pochi-chan! (Laughs)

Hayase: Every time I went for postrecording, I was very nervous, but everyone was relaxed and made me feel at ease. Minami Tsuda, who plays Riza, brought me sweets every time, and Yuuki also gave me advice!

--Please give us one last message.

Horie: Each and every one of the cast members is working on their roles with a tremendous amount of enthusiasm! The work is filled with enthusiasm to make it even better. I am very happy to see such high quality work in the film. There is still a lot of recording left to do, but I am now even more determined for the recording sessions to come. We have not cut any corners in the production, so I hope you will support us to the very end.

Kono: For me, Pochi is my first main cast role. I get nervous every week during recording sessions, and I always think about how I can make everyone enjoy my performance. From the second episode onward, the story will continue to expand and become more interesting, so I want to take good care of it. I will do my best!

Hayase: After watching the first episode at the screening today, I was convinced that "This is definitely coming! I was convinced that this is definitely coming. I hope you will continue to support us in the future!
