On December 29, 2017, an advance screening of the TV anime "Basilisk: Sakurabana Ninpocho" was held at Shinjuku Wald 9. In addition to the screening of episodes 1 and 2, Yu Hatanaka, who plays Hachiro Koga, and Inori Mizuse, who plays Hibiki Iga, took the stage for a talk show. In addition to the screening of the first and second episodes, a talk show was held with Hatanaka Yu, who plays Kouga Hachiro, and Minase Inori, who plays Iga Hibiki, on stage.
About 400 people who had won premier tickets gathered for the screening, and after the first and second episodes were finished, the talk show part started soon after with applause and cheers from the audience.
Minase, who was wearing a hakama for the first time, explained the mysteriousness of its mechanism to the audience, which immediately drew laughter from the audience.
Asked about his impressions of the first and second episodes, Hatanaka replied, "As a continuation of Koga Ninpocho, I think the two (Hachiro and Hibiki) have a lot of conflicting feelings, including those of Oboro and Gennosuke (the main characters in Koga Ninpocho), which are interwoven into the first and second episodes, and new conflicts were revealed. I watched the first episode together at the recording studio, and the sound effects of the horses' footsteps and the storm, which were not included in the recording, were very powerful, and I think it was perfect for the audience to see it in the theater today.
In response to a question about what she was conscious of when playing the role, Mizuse said, "Hibiki is a life-sized girl, so I really focused on her innocence and naivete. I myself am not cool," and the conversation turned to the recording studio.
According to Mizuse, Hatanaka is always "very forward! The audience laughed again at his smiling face, but Hatanaka quickly turned the conversation to his character, saying, "I think Hachiro is a person who can sit with his back to the backrest, so I have to be conscious of that. I think I have to be conscious of that.
Hatanaka then turned to the question of what kind of jutsu he would like to use if he were born a shinobi. Hatanaka answered, "I would definitely be an invisible man! Right? Right, boys? The audience laughed and applauded again. Mizuse was adorably stunned at the outrageous dreams of the men, saying, "I'm not interested," but she responded, "I don't like to fight, so I want to be a specialist in traps and tricks so I don't have to get too far in front.
Hatanaka said that when he met Mizuki (who played Oboro in the ending theme and Koga Ninpocho) on the set, Hatanaka told him, "This is a very important work, and the feelings of various characters are in it, so I wanted to entrust them to Sakurabana Ninpocho as well, and I put all these feelings into the song I wrote. I wanted to entrust the feelings of the characters to Sakurabana Ninpocho, so I put them all into this song. Depending on the number of episodes, the ending theme may be played in one of two patterns, "motion" or "stillness," so it seems that each episode can be enjoyed in a different way.
When asked what the future of the show would be, Mizuse replied, "Is that really a jutsu? I'm also acting with passion as an actor until the very last word," she said, foreshadowing the development of Basilisk, a ninja-killing battle.
In his closing remarks, Mizuse said, "The fate of Hachiro and Hibiki is going to be described in the future, but there are exciting developments awaiting us, so I hope you will look forward to the broadcast. Hatanaka then said, "I hope you will enjoy the broadcast. Hearing this, Mizuse involuntarily said, "What? I'm the chairperson! which caused the audience to laugh once again. Hatanaka then made a final speech, "I will do my best as a building manager so that I can lead the production firmly. The event came to an end with Hatanaka's final greeting.
The event was a gorgeous one, with visitors receiving a set of two full-color miniatures of Hachiro and Hibiki, drawn by Masaki Segawa, the original character designer. The "Basilisk ? Sakurabana Ninpocho? The second PV has been released on the official YouTube. In addition to the voices of the main characters, you can hear the ending theme song "HOT BLOOD" by Nana Mizuki, which has been released for the first time.
In addition, the official Twitter page will be posting countdown drawings by the main staff and cast from January 1 to the start of the broadcast on January 8, so be sure to check it out as well.
