The release date of the animated film "Kimi no Pancreas wo Tabetai" has been set for the fall of 2018.

Kimi no Pancreas wo Tabetai" is a coming-of-age novel by Yoru Sumino. The story follows Sakura Yamauchi, a high school girl with a pancreatic disease who has little time left to live, and her classmate "I" who happens to find her diary "Kyou-sickness bunko," and gradually grows closer to her by helping her with her "things I want to do before I die. In 2016, the story was made into an audiobook starring Kenichi Suzumura and Yui Horie, and a live-action movie was released in July 2017. Furthermore, a theatrical anime adaptation was announced in August 2017.

The release date of the film has now been set for the fall of 2018!　The key visual released in conjunction with the announcement of the release date is a striking image of the two main characters, "Boku" and "Sakurara," standing amidst beautifully blooming cherry blossoms. Good evening, my name is Yoru Sumino.
As the author of the original story, there are two main things I am looking for in a film adaptation. I am a writer, and I want two major things: that it be sincere to the people who love the original work, and that the creators themselves can proudly say that it is interesting. In order to achieve these goals, as the author of the original work, I have repeatedly consulted with the animation staff, shared our values, and participated in the preparations to create a new "Kimi no Pancreas wo Tabetai" while maintaining the meaning of the original work. The storyboards are now being steadily completed by the director. We hope you will look forward to it.
