Netflix Announces Business Partnership with Production I.G. & Bonds to Distribute Animation Produced by Both Companies to 190 Countries Worldwide
Netflix, a video distribution service, announced that it has entered into a comprehensive business partnership with Japanese anime production companies Production I.G and Bonds.
Under this partnership, Netflix will co-produce anime episodes with both Production I.G. and Bonds, which will be distributed on Netflix in 190 countries worldwide. Production I.G's comprehensive business alliance also includes its group company Wit Studio Inc. and the details of the films to be produced will be determined later.
Netflix explained that the purpose of the alliance is "to produce high-quality anime productions from Japan and strengthen the anime lineup to be delivered to members in 190 countries around the world. In addition, for Japanese anime producers and creators, "the opportunity to distribute their works widely to anime fans overseas through Netflix's global platform will become available," and for Netflix members, "they will be able to enjoy high-quality anime productions from Japan that transcend language and cultural barriers. Netflix members will be able to "enjoy high-quality animation works from Japan beyond language and cultural barriers," and a win-win-win relationship for Netflix members, creators engaged in animation production, and animation production companies will be completed on Netflix.
In announcing the partnership, Mitsuhisa Ishikawa, president of Production I.G, said, "It is a great pleasure for anime creators to be able to deliver high-quality content from Japan to Netflix viewers around the world and have them enjoy it. We will strive to produce content that can be enjoyed in any language.
Masahiko Minami, president of bones, said, "We feel that this partnership with Netflix is very meaningful for our creators, as it will allow us to send our works to viewers around the world. We look forward to working together with Netflix to create great works that will move people of all nationalities and ages, and that they will continue to watch for many years to come.
Robert Roy, vice president of global animation at Netflix, added, "Japanese anime has a reputation among anime fans around the world for its unique visual impact and story depth. We are very pleased to be involved in the production and distribution of anime productions through this partnership, and we hope that Netflix will contribute to the development of Japanese anime culture and its global distribution that transcends national and language barriers.
