Anime "Major Second" Announces Kana Hanazawa as Heroine Mutsuko Sakura! Comments also arrived from Natsumi Takamori and Yuko Sasamoto!

Additional cast members have been announced for "MAJOR Second," a sequel to the baseball anime milestone "MAJOR.

The original comic "MAJOR" began serialization in Weekly Shōnen Sunday 1994, issue #33 (original story: Takuya Mitsuda). In 2008, the movie version was released and became a milestone in baseball animation, drawing 1 million viewers and grossing over 1 billion yen at the box office. Its sequel, "Major Second," will begin broadcasting in April 2018 as a long-awaited new anime series. Directed by Ayumi Watanabe;scripts by Rikei Tsuchiya, Takeshi Furuta, Mitsuyo Suenaga, and Kenichi Yamashita;character design by Kenichi Onuki; sound director Toshiki Kameyama;music by Kotaro Nakagawa; production by NHK Enterprises.

Additional cast members have now been announced.
The heroine, Mutsuko Sakura, will be played by the popular and talented Kana Hanazawa. The role of Izumi Shigeno, the sister of the main character Daigo Shigeno, will be played by Natsumi Takamori, another popular actress. Both Mutsuko and Izumi have a major influence on Daito and his partner Hikaru Sato. Yuko Sasamoto will play the role of Kaoru Shigeno, Daigo's mother, continuing her role from the previous "Major" anime. She will passionately play the role of a mother who educates Daigo while sometimes putting her own body on the line.
It will be interesting to see how the story will be colored by the three female characters.

Influenced by my father, I have been crazy about watching baseball games since I was a child. I am looking forward to the recording while reading the original story to see what kind of experience I can have with Mutsuko in the anime!

I was surprised twice when I heard that Major Second was going to be adapted into an anime and I was asked to play the role of Kaoru again. I am so happy to be able to watch Izumi and Daigo grow up.
I hope that many people will watch the anime and that it will make them fall in love with baseball.
