Basilisk" was adapted into a TV anime in 2005 based on the novel "Koga Ninpocho" by Futaro Yamada. The shocking twist in the story is that Koga Gennosuke of the Koga Manjidani-shu and Iga Oboro of the Iga Tsubagakure-shu, who are enemies but in love with each other, fall in love with each other and end up killing themselves in the end.

In January 2018, after a 13-year absence, the TV anime "Basilisk: Sakurabana Ninpocho" based on Masaki Yamada's "Sakurabana Ninpocho: Basilisk New Chapter" began airing. The story is about two siblings, Kouga Hachiro and Iga Hibiki, children of Kouga Gennosuke and Iga Oboro, and it was announced that they will be adapted into a new TV anime in July 2017 , starring Yu Hatanaka as Kouga Hachiro and Inori Minase as Iga Hibiki. In addition, it was also announced that, as in the previous "Koga Ninpocho," the OP theme is by Yin-Yang-Za and the ED theme is by Nana Mizuki.
The TV anime "Basilisk: Sakurabana Ninpocho" will start airing in January next year! Starring Yu Hatanaka & Inori Minase! The theme song will be sung by Yin-Yang-Za and Nana Mizuki, as in the previous work!

Ahead of the broadcast of the sixth episode, a new key visual, a character drawing of a young man, new characters and cast, and a review video of episodes 1 to 5 have been released.

The shocking development of the story was that the adult elite ninjas, who were thought to be the main characters, were wiped out by an alien group calling themselves the Naruhiroshu.

In the sixth episode, which will be broadcast on February 12 (Mon.) at 24:00 on TOKYO MX and other stations, the story takes place several years later and depicts the grown-up ninjas confronting the avenging Naruhiroshu.

The new key visual released this time depicts Hibiki and Hachiro as well as a shadowy figure that appears to be Naruhiroshu and a castle-like building. It will be interesting to see how they will intertwine with each other and how the story will unfold from episode 6 onward.

It was also announced that Kenji Hamada will play the role of the mysterious ninja monk Hadaebo.

For those who are curious about the show but have not yet had a chance to watch it, and for those who want to look back, a review video of episodes 1 through 5 is now available on YouTube. The narration is by Yusuke Okano, who plays Tadanaga Tokugawa, so be sure to check it out as well.
