Anime "Major Second" Announces Casting of Rival Characters, Two "Baimura"!

The cast of rival characters for "Major Second," a sequel to the baseball anime classic "Major," has been announced.

The original comic "MAJOR" began serialization in Weekly Shōnen Sunday 1994, issue #33 (original story: Takuya Mitsuda). In 2008, the movie version was released and became a milestone in baseball animation, drawing 1 million viewers and grossing over 1 billion yen at the box office. Its sequel, "Major Second," will begin broadcasting in April 2018 as a long-awaited new anime series.Directed by Ayumi Watanabe;scripts by Rikei Tsuchiya, Takeshi Furuta, Mitsuyo Suenaga, and Kenichi Yamashita;character design by Kenichi Onuki; sound director Toshiki Kameyama;music by Kotaro Nakagawa; production by NHK Enterprises.

The cast of the rivals, Michiru Mayumura and Wataru Mayumura, has now been announced.

Yui Horie, a popular and talented actress, has been cast as Michiru Mayumura, and Jun Fukushima has been cast as Wataru Mayumura. It will be interesting to see how both will portray the powerful rivals who stand in the way of the main character, Daigo!

Dorui and Wataru are members of a rival team called "Tohto Boys," but the most noteworthy thing about them is their last name, "Baimura.
The name "Baimura" may remind many people of Ken Baimura, a serious right-handed pitcher who stood in front of Goro Shigeno many times in the previous "Major". What do they have to do with Ken Baimura? ...... What does it mean to have two Baimura on the same team? Expectations are high for the story to unfold.

The following are some enthusiastic comments from Mr. Horie and Mr. Fukushima after the casting was decided.

Yui Horie: Playing the role of Michinori Baimura

I am very happy to be able to participate in "Major Second" this time, as the previous work "Major" was very wonderful and had many fans!

There is a lot of pressure, but I hope I can grow together with the characters!

Fukushima Jun. (Playing the role of Wataru Baimura)

I am really happy! I just heard that I passed the audition the other day, so I'm still very nervous (laughs).

I will do my best to bring the work to life and breathe wonderful life into the character!
