Tomokazu Seki (Gatchaman / Ken Washio)
--What are your thoughts on Tatsunoko Productions' works?
I properly watched all Tatsunoko Productions works from about the second series of "Gatchaman" when I was a child!
--How do you feel about the introduction of Dr. Nanbu (Eiichiro Funakoshi) and Joe the Condor (Kazuma Suzuki) from this movie version?
In the TV series "Infini-T Force," only Ken Washio (played by me) from "Gatchaman" participated, so I was a bit nervous, but now that Dr. Nanbu and Joe are participating, it's easier to get an image of them, and I'm glad! Both of them are very good at dubbing! I'm sure I'll get nervous when I hear Dr. Nambu's voice this time (laughs)!
--What are the highlights of the movie version?
Not only Gatchaman, but also other heroes will be very active! There are still many heroes from Tatsunoko Productions, and in order to have all the Gatchaman heroes together so that they can make the famous speech, please promote this film so that it will spread even further!
Eiichiro Funakoshi (Playing the role of Dr. Nanbu)
--Please tell us your thoughts on Tatsunoko Productions' works.
This film is a commemorative work for the 55th anniversary of Tatsunoko Productions. I am 57 years old, so I grew up with Tatsunoko and have grown up being showered with Tatsunoko animated films. From the memorable first black and white "Space Ace" to "Mach GoGoGo," "Haxon Daimaou," "Kerokko Demetan," "Minashigo-Hutch," the list is endless. I watched "Gatchaman" and "Gatchaman" just about all the way through. We are seahorses.
--How did you feel about your role as Dr. Nambu?
Dr. Nanbu is the antagonist of the four heroes. He is the creator of Gatchaman, the father of Gatchaman, and is like a father to them, but this time, their belief in justice changes. The structure of the film pits Nambu against Gatchaman and his friends.
--What does "hero" or justice mean to you?
A hero is a person who can put aside selfishness, destroy himself/herself, and serve others. I think this is the common image of heroes that we have received from anime, including Tatsunoko anime, for a long time.
--What do you think about the Japanese heroes playing an active role in the ongoing PyeongChang Olympics?
I would like to see a gold medal, but I think the real heroes are the people who are working there, not just the medals! They are uplifting us so much.
--What are the highlights of the movie version?
The film does not betray the expectations of old fans. It pays homage to the past, but at the same time, you will be bombarded with images that you have never seen or felt before. Enjoy it as if you were on a theme park attraction! Be intoxicated by the tremendously powerful sound and unbelievable images. If you like it, please spread the word on social networking sites, even if I say so myself (smiles)!
Kazuma Suzuki (as Joe the Condor)
--How did you like the role of Joe the Condor that you played?
Is he friend or foe of the four heroes...I can't say any more (laughs). When I watched Joe the Condor as a child, I felt that there was something cool about the cool-looking older brother who killed his enemies. This time, there is violence and a strong sense of reality. The human drama and the contrast between the light of Ken and the shadow of Joe--the dirtier I get, the more Ken shines through--are highlights.
--Please tell us your thoughts on Tatsunoko Productions' works.
I always watched the Time Bokan series. I used to say things like, "This week's surprise surprise mecha, let's go! (I used to play with them when I was a kid. I'm really honored to be able to play the role of Joe the Condor!
Ai Kayano (playing the role of Emi)
--How did you feel about your role as Emi?
In the TV series, she was a gloomy girl at first (laugh), but I think she grows up together with the heroes.
--What are your thoughts on Tatsunoko Productions' works?
I also watched the Time Bokan series. There were reruns of the series. I remember the surprise mecha! The little mecha came out and they were so cute. I also like Doronjo-sama!
--What are the highlights of the movie version?
The 3DCG of the TV series was beautiful and drew me in, but now that it is a theater version, I never thought I would have the luxury of seeing it on the screen! I think it is such a luxury to be able to see it on the screen! We hope you will also take note of the powerful performance of the two new actors!
