OLDCODEX has reached a milestone! OLDCODEX Arena Tour 2018 "we're Here!" Yokohama Arena Concert Report

On Thursday, February 8, 2018, OLDCODEX, a unit consisting of vocalist Ta_2 and painter YORKE. held a live concert at Yokohama Arena.

This tour was held after the "OLDCODEX Tour 2017 "they go, Where?" with their fifth album "they go, Where?" released in August 2017. Arena Tour 2018 "we're Here! The long journey of searching for "Where are we going?" finally reached the end point at the tour final held on February 8, 2018.

What kind of scenery did OLDCODEX and their fans witness there?

Full power from the beginning! The united and powerful Yokohama Arena

This live performance was the largest ever for a one-man show. The stage was filled with paintings done by YORKE, as if to visually show the footprints of the band's history.

Then, vocalist Ta_2, YORKE., and the band members appeared on stage. With red lights illuminating the paintings on the stage, the live started with "problem," the opening track from the album "they go, where?

The heavy, ground-breaking sound of "problem" gradually enlivened the audience, and the powerful band sound of "Where'd They Go? The audience joined in a sing-along to unite the whole arena as one.

Yokohama Arena, come on!"

YORKE., showing no signs of being overawed by his first big stage appearance, led the audience into "Faith In Me," and the performance accelerated even further, with Ta_2's vocals becoming even more intense. The performance seemed to be a direct expression of the audience's impulse to sing, and it was clear that the audience was being swallowed up by the performance. The voltage of the venue was at its highest right from the start of the show.

Words were no longer necessary.

Without any opening MC, they performed "Seek your turn" one after the other. The audience responded to Ta_2's message with cheers and shouts that made the venue shake. During "Harsh Wind," YORKE. painted the audience as if a halo was shining on them, and Ta_2 clutched the microphone with both hands and shouted as if he was praying for them. The intense and ephemeral appearance of the performance seemed somehow divine. The audience responded with a breathless call and response to "#4," a standard live song, and the audience and the stage became one during "Frame in Flame," with hands swinging from side to side in unison. The first half of the nonstop live performance was full of confidence in themselves and in the bond with their fans that they have cultivated through their past tours.

OLDCODEX's unique stage featuring painter YORKE.

Oh my God, it's so much fun! I feel like my heart is reaching out to you. Thank you.

Ta_2, who had been singing almost without a break up to this point, took a break to talk about his impressions of his first arena one-man show, and opened the middle part of the live with the words, "It's not just us who go wild" and "I'll show you why we have painters in our house.

From here on, the section featured painter YORKE. in a big way.

With the backdrop of world-inspired songs such as "loose my breath," "Outsomnia," "bund," and "Archromatic habit," YORKE. painted various visuals on the canvas using various weapons such as paintbrushes and stencils. Silhouettes in profile, large eyes staring at the audience, and other meaningful graphics appeared one after another to the beat of the song.

What was impressive was that Ta_2 sang at the edge of the stage and behind the canvas during this section. His performance strongly emphasized the importance of YORKE.'s live painting to the band.

During "A Black Toy," YORKE. performed live painting under the black light amidst the EDM taste sound. At the end, YORKE. raised his hand and the canvas above the stage burst into flames! The word "OLDCODEX" appeared on the canvas, an exciting performance. Like a phoenix, even when engulfed in flames, we will rise again. Is this the message of the event?

Also, it was impressive that YORKE. was more wordy than usual on stage this day (he only spoke when introducing the members!). ). ) His enthusiasm for "expression" on stage this time was felt more strongly than ever.

The excitement on the floor only grew as the performance was stimulating not only in sound but also in visual aspects.
