One of Japan's largest anime events, AnimeJapan 2018, was held at Tokyo Big Sight on March 24 (Sat.) and 25 (Sun.), 2018. Here we bring you a report from the "GODZILLA Crusade Multiplication City" Special Stage, which took place on the RED Stage on March 25 (Sunday).

The cast included Mamoru Miyano as Haruo Sakaki, Takahiro Sakurai as Metfies, Tomokazu Sugita as Martin Lazzari, Hiroki Kaji as Adam Bindewald, Junichi Suwabe as Muruel Garg, and a surprise appearance by Rena Ueda as the fourth race of "Futua" twin girls, the elder sister Myna. The MC was Takamichi Nakakura, a freelance announcer.

GODZILLA" is an anime movie consisting of three chapters, the second of which, "Kessen Taisen Toshi" will be released on May 18 (Fri.).

The main cast gathered again on the stage of "AnimeJapan" this time to talk about their thoughts on the film.

First on stage was Miyano-san, who plays Haruo. He mimicked Godzilla's unique pose with his arms outstretched in front of him and his elbows slightly bent, and the rest of the cast also appeared on stage as Godzilla.

The stage was filled with spoilers for the first animated film "GODZILLA - Planet of the Monsters," and the audience was introduced to the 300 meter tall "Godzilla Earth," the largest Godzilla in history, which appeared at the end of the film, as well as the newly evolved "Mechagodzilla," the last hope for mankind, and the memorable scene in the film "GODZILLA. He also talked about the memorable scenes in the movie.

Then, the cast of the twin girls, Maina and Miana, twins of the fourth race "Futua," who had already been announced, was announced.

When asked how they felt about being cast as Maina and Miana, the audience was surprised to hear that at the time of the auditions, it had not been decided whether one voice actor would voice the two characters or whether each character would be voiced by a different voice actor. He also shared his memories of the recording process, saying that this movie was produced using a method called prescoring, in which the dialogue is recorded ahead of time, and that the two actors always recorded their lines in unison, which made the recording process very difficult.

When I think of twins in "Godzilla" related works, "Kobijin" played by The Peanuts in "Mothra" comes to mind, and Mr. Suwabe said he was looking forward to seeing how Maina and Miana would be involved in the film. Sakurai-san said that the animated version of "Godzilla," which used to be a tokusatsu work, is an attraction because the 300-meter Godzilla is unique to the animated version and the sense of scale is also appealing. Mr. Miyano said that the first film was the best introduction to the characters and aliens in the first film, and that the many scenes of emotional turmoil among the characters in the second film are also noteworthy. Mr. Sugita also mentioned that the highlight of the film is the interaction between the characters, as a casual remark can lead to the salvation of those around them. Mr. Kaji said that he respects Mr. Miyano as much as Adam respects Haruo, the character he plays. The talk was warm and relaxed, and the audience could feel that the recording process must have proceeded under the guidance of the cast.

Finally, Mr. Miyano, on behalf of the cast, thanked the audience for coming and said, "We have been working hard on this film, taking into consideration the fact that we are involved in the first ever animation of Godzilla. We have put our true feelings into this film, and I am sure it will reach everyone's hearts. And there is no doubt that this is a Godzilla movie unlike anything you have ever seen before. I hope you will enjoy "Kessen Taisen Toshi" in theaters and look forward to the continuing story. He commented, "I hope you will enjoy 'Kessen Mobile Multiplication City' in theaters. The stage ended in a friendly atmosphere, with jokes and comments throughout.

<How will Mechagodzilla appear in the story, and who are the Futua, including the twin girls?

We look forward to the film's release on May 18 (Friday).
