Megalobox" is an original anime based on "Ashita no Joe," which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2018. It is a passionate original story about a boxer who fights against his destiny in the ring, putting everything he has into the fight. It's like a sound coming from the bottom of the ground in the wilderness, that's how I feel.
These are the words I used to describe the image I had in mind for the opening track.

I have been listening to LEO's music as a fan, and I was very attracted to the unique use of Japanese in the lyrics as well as the music itself.
Even words that at first glance seem disproportionate to the nuance of the song seem to be used because they are pleasing to the ear, or because they are pleasant to pronounce. It is hard to describe, but there is a sense of comfort in LEO's music, as if the "words" become "sounds" along with their meanings.

When I listened to the completed "Bite," I was first attracted to the "words" and the lyrics.

The choice and arrangement of words, the interesting sense of language, and the unique phrasing.
These things definitely made me feel that this was LEO's music, as in the past, but at the same time I got the impression that it was somehow completely different from his previous works.
I think it is probably the "heat" of the music itself.

Most of the lyrics of "Bite" are written in Japanese.
I think the Japanese lyrics were chosen because they directly convey the frustration, awkwardness, wildness, and impulsive feelings.
The words ride on the rhythm of the song, which is mixed with a sense of disquiet, and give the impression of anger that is not superficial, but quietly welling up.
I think it was this "quietly passionate and extremely emotional" quality that gave me a different impression of the song.
Bite" was exactly the "sound of the ground beneath the wilderness" that I had imagined.

The opening animation for "Megalobox" is a very orthodox approach.
When the song sings, "Keep burning rubber," a pile of tires is burned, and when it sings, "I drove a loser crazy," the loser protagonist is shown.
This may not be very current or fashionable, to say the least.
It may be classic at best and typical at worst, but I felt that this was the only way for "Bite.
I wanted to cherish the strong words that had been strung together for "Megalobox.

Every story begins with LEO's music.
Bite" is the signature of "Megalobox.
