A character song CD featuring Rono Nukumura (CV. Nikka Akaneya) from the spring anime "Magical Girl Sight" will be released. A music video has been released along with the CD. A report on the shooting of the music video and a comment from Akaneya have arrived.
This is the latest work by Kentaro Sato, the creator of "Magical Girl of the End," which has been serialized on the web comic distribution site Champion Tap! a web comic distribution site, and moved to Weekly Shonen Champion in October 2017. The anime is based on the popular manga series that is still being popularly serialized. The main character is Aya Asagiri, a junior high school student who is bullied by her classmates at school and endures abuse from her own brother at home. One day, Aya encounters an eerie website called "Magical Girl Site" and obtains a "stick" that contains magical powers. Aya gets a "stick" with magical powers, and is caught up in an intense destiny together with her classmate Rono Nutamura, who also has a stick, and other "magical girls" in the story.
This work will start airing on MBS/TBS/BS-TBS "Anime-ism" from April 6, and a character song CD "believe again" of one of the characters, Nutsumura Atsuno (CV. Akaneya Nikkika), will be released on June 20. The CD will be released on June 20.
The song "believe again" is written by Lotta and composed and arranged by Katsuhiko Kurosu. The song stylishly expresses the coolness of Rono's personality, while at the same time expressing her feelings for Aya. Rono has experienced a harsh past and has given up trusting others. She meets the main character Aya and says "I'll try to believe in you just one more time." The song is an answer song to Aya's character song "Aka i nada no koto" (Beyond the red tears).
In addition to the standard CD version, a CD+DVD version will also be released. The bonus DVD will include a gorgeous music video (MV).
A short version of the music video was released today.
We went undercover to the location shooting site of the music video. In addition to the report, we asked Akaneya-san to talk about her enthusiasm for the song and the music video shooting, which was her first performance with backup dancers.
Shooting with a smoke bomb?
On a certain day in February, the music video was shot together with the music video for the character song "Akai Tama no Soto" for Aya Asagiri, played by Yuzufuko Ono.
The first scene was a scene in which Aya walks around alone on the floor of an abandoned building. Akaneya, who usually shoots music videos as a member of i☆Ris, said that this time she felt like she was playing a character, which was a fresh and different feeling from usual. Akaneya walks bravely, but during the filming of the scene in which she holds a smoke bomb, she was surprised to see it spewing smoke at close range.
In the next scene, which was shot in front of a flame, props were also used to create the image of Rono's smartphone-shaped walking stick. Although the day's shooting took place in the bitter cold, Akaneya was in a good mood, saying, "I can shoot the scene as if it were a bonfire.
She was nervous about the full-scale dance performance!
Finally, there was a dance performance with backing dancers. This was the first time for Ms. Akaneya to shoot solo and with back-up dancers. She also said that the choreography for this music video was "the most difficult in my history," so she was very nervous during the shooting. Please check out the music video to see how it turned out.
The full version of the music video will be included in the bonus DVD of the character song <CD+DVD> disc to be released on June 20 (Wed), and the making-of video will be included in the TV anime Blu-ray & DVD volume 1 to be released on June 29.
Akaneya Nichika's comment: "When I heard this song for the first time, I was so excited.
--What was your impression when you heard the song for the first time?
Akaneya: It was unexpected! Yes, it is a cool song, but I had imagined a darker Rouno-chan. The melody is rock and the lyrics gradually become more positive, so I thought it was wonderful that you followed Rono's growth in the song.
--What were some of the difficulties you faced in recording the song, and were there any points that left a lasting impression?
Akaneya: I think it was the matching of the characters.... We discussed very carefully and carefully with the director and the production staff. I had been working on the role myself for a long time, so I thought carefully about what kind of life she would lead, and I felt like we all worked together to create the character, accepting the points I wanted to compromise on and the points I wanted to stick to!
--Are there any lyrics or phrases that left an impression on you?
Akaneya: The last lyric (of the full chorus), "When the night of the new moon comes". After I looked up the meaning of the new moon night, I felt how Rirono was fighting with her feelings, and I couldn't help but cry.... I want everyone to get into this song (laughs), so please look up the meaning of the night of the new moon.
--(Laughs) Please look up the meaning of "night of the new moon. How was the shooting?
Akaneya: I was alone, but I was basically acting as Rono, so it was a lot of fun. I was very nervous because I was experiencing some direction for the first time... I was really nervous about dancing in the center with the back-up dancers...! The dancers really helped me...! Thank you very much!
--Thank you very much!
Akaneya: I thought it was wonderful that it was based on school uniforms and the color was red. I thought it was wonderful that it was based on school uniforms and the color red! (Is that an exaggeration? (Is that an exaggeration?) I felt something like that. (Is that too much of an exaggeration? (Laughs)). My favorite part was that I was paired with Ohno who played the role of Aya Asagiri!
--What do you want people to see in the music video?
Akaneya: The facial expressions and the dance. For the facial expressions, I was somewhat conscious of the way Rono grows as the lyrics progress. I'm not sure at this stage which parts are used (laugh), but I'm sure they have been edited out thankfully! (Laughs) The dancing was difficult anyway! (Laughs) I did my best! (Laughs)
--Finally, could you say something about this character song and music video for the anime viewers?
Akaneya: I am very grateful to have had the luxurious experience of shooting a music video for a character song. I enjoyed it as if I was performing in a play. I would be very happy if you could listen to this song along with the anime and love Rono even more! Thank you very much!
