What did they do to understand the feeling of "wanting to kill people"? A roundtable discussion with the main cast of "Magical Girl Sight," with its hard-hitting worldview!

The spring anime "Magical Girl Sight", which features a hard-hitting drama by magical girls, will start airing on MBS/TBS/BS-TBS "Anime-ism" slot on April 6. To commemorate this event, a roundtable discussion among the five main cast members was held!

Yuzuko Ono playing Aya Asagiri, Nikka Akaneya playing Rono Nukumura, Aina Suzuki playing Rina Shioi, Yu Serizawa playing Nokai Anazawa, and Haruka Yamazaki playing Sarina Shizukumei, all of whom play characters with various problems and thoughts, talked about their impressions of the work and behind-the-scenes stories from the recording sessions.

The original work had a dark impression at first

--First of all, please tell us about the characters you play.

Yuzuko Ohno (Yuzuko Oh no): My name is Yuzuko Ohno, and I play the role of Aya Asagiri. Aya is a very unhappy girl who is bullied at school and sandbagged by her older brother at home.

Sandbagging ...... is bad (laughs) .

Ohno: She is a kind girl who doesn't think about getting back at her bullies, and although she is kind, ...... she has a bit of a weak side.

I'm Himika Akaneya and I play the role of Rono Nu-mura. Rono was deeply scarred by an incident a long time ago, and although she doesn't show it on her face, she has been holding on to that hatred deep inside her heart for a long time. At first, she only interacts with Aya because it benefits her, but gradually she begins to see Aya's good qualities and opens up to her. I think she is probably the one who grows or changes the most in the story.

My name is Aina Suzuki, and I play the role of Rina Shioi. Rina has always had a complex and is not the type of girl who would aggressively go out in front of others. But after she changed her appearance with a magic stick, her feelings and facial expressions became brighter and she became an innocent girl. She is a little too cheerful (laughs).

My name is Yuu Serizawa, and I play the role of Nokai Anazawa. Nijimi, also known as "Nijimin," is a member of a national idol group called "Inu-Asobi. She is a member of a national idol group called "Inu-Asobi." She is very friendly and always smiling, just like a dog. At first, she gets into a relationship with Aya and Rono because her best friend was killed. Nijimin also has a dark side, but while everyone else has a dark side, she is basically a cheerful and energetic girl who doesn't show her unhappy side!

Haruka Yamazaki (Haruka Yamazaki ) My name is Haruka Yamazaki, and I play the role of Sarina Shizukume. Sarina used to bully Aya, but she suspects that her friend might have died because of Aya and is very angry with her. She is very angry because she suspects that her friend might have died because of her. She has always disliked people who are too stubborn, so in the beginning, she is always yelling at Aya. In a way, he is a delinquent to the core.

--What was your impression when you first read the original story of "Magical Girl Sight"?

Ohno: I read the original story for the audition, so I read it from Aya's point of view from the beginning. I read it from the beginning from Aya's point of view. It starts with the scene where Aya is bullied, so I was already very sad. ......

It 's sad, isn't it?

Ohno: Even so, as the story progresses, Aya gradually becomes stronger and stronger, and I feel like I want to root for her. That is why I remember that I kept reading until the end without stopping. The story has some dark parts, but I thought the friendship that lies behind it was wonderful.

Yamazaki: I first auditioned for the roles of Aya and Rono, and later I was asked to audition for the role of Sarina. So I read the original story from the perspective of Aya and Rono, and I thought, "Sarina is a terrible person. So the audition for Sarina was difficult.

Suzuki: At first, I was also accepted for the three characters of Aya, Rono and Nijimin, but during the audition, I was suddenly asked to try for Rinna.

Rinna has a dual personality, with a bubbly personality and a darker personality, and it was very difficult to express both in terms of the play and the emotional aspect of the performance. I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to make the audience feel fear in my performance.

--There are many outlandish characters in "Magical Girl Sight," so it must be difficult to play them. Nijimin also had a great impact when she first appeared .......

Serizawa "I want to kill ...... I want to kill ......," she says when she first appears (laughs). (laugh) However, it was surprisingly not difficult for me to play the role of Nijimin in her sick state, or "poison apple" as she calls it. I thought, "I understand" that because she does not show her dark side at all when she is an idol, when she explodes with hatred or something like that, she becomes a great person. When I say "I get it," I don't mean that I have a lot of hate in my heart (laughs).

When I read the original work, I thought that Nijimin was one of the flowers in the work. Even in ......, Aya is "dark," Rina has a "terrible personality," and Rirono is "scary, Sarina is "very scary" (laughs). (Laughs.) I play the role of Nijimin while thinking that it would be nice if I could lighten the mood of the work.

Yamazaki I understand. Everyone else speaks in a low tone (laughs).

Akaneya: In my case, I usually play roles in which I express my emotions to the fullest, so it is rare for me to play a role like Rono's in which I suppress my emotions. When I actually made an acting plan, it wasn't that difficult, but there was a scene in episode 2 where Rono kept explaining her view of the world. It was difficult from a directorial point of view, because even if she spoke without hesitation, the audience would not be able to hear what she was saying. Mr. Ohno would sometimes improvise, and I would accentuate his words a little as I performed the scene.

There is also a scene in the middle of the play where he confides in Aya about his past, and I had to think about how much distance I should keep between him and Aya before I got to that point.

To understand the feeling of "wanting to kill people": ......

--In "Magical Girl Sight", an unfortunate girl meets a magical girl site. Are there any unfortunate things that you have experienced in your life that you think could meet "Magical Girl Sight"?

All of you Eh?

Akaneya After reading the original story, you might think that your misfortune is nothing to worry about.

Serizawa But there are times of loneliness in junior high school, aren't there?

Suzuki Yes, that's true.

Serizawa There were times when I was alone in the classroom (......), but not when I was slammed into a tray like Aya (laughs). If I were really that unhappy, I might use a magic stick without hesitation. I've never felt like I wanted to beat someone up that badly.

--I think it was difficult for you to understand the feelings of the characters.

Serizawa I don't really understand the feeling of wanting to kill someone.

Yamazaki That's true (laughs).

Serizawa That's why I researched so much about cases of girls killing girls in the news overseas. I also read the stories of the victims themselves.

Akaneya I did the same thing!　I wondered, "How does it feel when a family member suffers a terrible tragedy?" So I did some research on it.

Suzuki Rina-chan overcame her complex by changing her appearance. I think everyone, including myself, has at least one complex, so I could sympathize with her in that way.

Ohno: I am not as bad as Aya, but when I was in elementary school, I was bullied like in any other school (......). So when I read the first volume of the original story, I thought, "I can understand what's going on. So I remembered those old memories of myself, and I could naturally understand Aya's feelings, so I was able to play the role very naturally.

Serizawa Speaking of that, I smelled some okaki in the dressing room earlier, so I asked her lightly, "Did anyone eat okaki? Ono-chan replied, "It's me!　I'm sorry! I asked her in a light-hearted way, and she apologized to me. No, no, no, I'm not mad at you at all! (laugh).

Ohno: Like Aya, I have a tendency to think negatively. I apologize reflexively. That's probably why I can understand how Aya feels.

Suzuki: She's cute and healthy ....... Ohno, you are perfect for Aya-chan.

Akaneya She is kind-hearted ....... I really want to protect her~.

Yamazaki But there was a girl like Aya in my class. I think everything is too much trouble for me, so I probably wouldn't want to get involved with Aya-chan or Sarina. ...... I'm like the girl in class A, the type who says "eh, it's so dull" (laughs).

--(laughs) - Do you feel a certain reality in "Magical Girl Sight," even though it is exaggerated as a manga?

Serizawa The first example of misfortune that comes up is bullying, but I think everyone in this day and age has experienced it and can relate to it.

Yamazaki It seems that both the bully and the bullied have seen it at least once. It could be Mr. A in class who just sees it and .......

The recording studio, on the other hand, is a friendly place!

--I'd like to ask you about some of the highlights of the anime, such as "what do you want people to see here?

Serizawa My favorite scene is when Aya cries and screams back at Sarina for the first time. It was so great!

Akaneya That was great, wasn't it? I told Ohno-chan, "I really like Aya-chan in that scene.

Ohno: I was so happy!　Even though I had read the original story, I said to myself, "Talk back! Aya!" I was thinking like that when I read the original, so I really liked that scene.

I also hope that you can see the process of Aya meeting Rirono and coming to talk back to him, or rather, the gradual change in Aya.

Yamazaki: Also, I like Rina's "I'll have you die!　When I saw the audition materials, I had a vague idea that this line would be difficult. I didn't get the part of Nashina, but that line left an impression on me. So when I actually heard it, I thought, "Wow! I thought, "Wow!

Suzuki: She appeared on stage with her boobs bouncing around and suddenly said, "I'm going to have you die!

Akaneya Rinna's face at that time is not good (laughs).

Yamazaki: In the work, this is the first character who appears with the intention of killing someone, so I have a strong impression of her.

-There are many characters with a strong sense of humor.

Akaneya I want you to see Aya's older brother (Kaname Asagiri)!　He is so amazing that I keep listening to the next preview of him in the recording booth (laughs).

Ohno: It's so scary that we say "big brother is a healer" on set (laughs). I'm waiting for that fear. ......

--How do you like the atmosphere on the set?

Serizawa: It's very interesting!　The content is dark, so the sound director says, "Let's have fun today! The content is dark, so the sound director says to me, "Let's have fun today! I was able to observe the recording of the first episode, but I was bullied so hard (laughs).

Suzuki: What? （What?)

Serizawa Oh, you mean Aya in the production?　She was teasing me saying, "Let's re-record it one more time!" I'm not being bullied!

Suzuki "Really? I was so surprised (laughs).

Yamazaki: Oh no, oh no (laughs).

Ohno It wasn't like that at all (laughs).

Yamazaki During the break, everyone is cheerful or rather, having a good time.

（Ryusei Nakao (who plays Urushi, the site administrator) asked, "Do you have other sticks? or "I wonder if there are other site administrators besides me? He told me a lot of things.

Serizawa "I am Urushi (7), so I am not 1.

Ohno: "I wish I was 1" (laughs).

Suzuki: So it was a lot of fun to work on site!

Akaneya: They don't say anything positive, like in the scene in the first episode where the cat dies, you can't say "I feel sorry for it. That's why they are so cheerful during the breaks.

Yamazaki In the first episode, the mob was all terrible because they didn't want to make allies of Aya. They were like, "Isn't it bad to live in a town full of people like this? Akaneya: This town is already in trouble.

Akaneya: I think this town is already in trouble (laughs).

Ohno: In a world like that, I think Aya would want to die, too.

--Lastly, do you have a message for the readers?

Yamazaki : In "Magical Girl Sight," I think there are probably more things happening than expected. Aya is being bullied to death, Rono is cold to death but gradually warms up, and Nijimin is cute to death ....... I think you will be surprised at how powerful they are when they are voiced and move!　You will be surprised at how powerful they are when they are voiced and move. Please look forward to seeing the anime!

As for Sarina, please don't dislike her at the beginning (laugh).

Serizawa: This work starts from a situation where Aya is being bullied, which is something I don't want to touch, but I feel like it is a surprisingly familiar subject matter that absolutely everyone has experienced before. As Aya grows up from such a cold world, the temperature of everyone's hearts rises. I hope everyone can feel that kind of worldview. I believe that the growth of Aya will inspire people who think "My everyday life is boring" to "Keep up the good work".

Also, as a nijimin, I want to be a person who makes flowers bloom. So I would be happy if everyone likes it.

Also, from Nijimin's point of view, Keisuke Naoido, who is a die-hard fan, is a highlight of the show!　Yuya Asato's acting is very human and has a great flavor. Please pay attention to that as well!

Suzuki: The anime "Magical Girl Sight" is very faithful to the original story, but there are also many original parts, so I think that both those who have read the original story and those who are new to the anime will enjoy it.

Even though Rina-chan looks cute, she still has a bad mouth, but she is a good girl!　I hope you will enjoy the gap between her appearance and her fearfulness. First of all, I hope that everyone will be frightened when she says "I'm going to die" (laughs).

Akaneya: I think there are a lot of magical girl stories nowadays. Among them, "Magical Girl Sight" is more humanistic, and I think there are many things that we can relate to. I think the core of the work is friendship and humanity, so I would like people to pay attention to that.

As for Rono, she is the most emotionally restrained in the beginning while all the other characters around her are going full throttle. So, I would like the audience to see the growth process of Rono as she opens her heart.

Ohno: I think "Magical Girl Sight" has quite a few scenes from the beginning that make you want to turn away. However, the story goes on to show the warmth of Aya and Rono's friendship, so I hope that you will not stop watching the story at the beginning!　Aya also grows as the show progresses, so I hope that seeing that will make you think, "I'm going to do my best, too.
