Figure-riseLABO's first product focuses on "skin" expression! Hoshino Fumina from "Gundam Build Fighters Try" is now available!

BANDAI SPIRITS has launched a new project "Figure-riseLABO". As the first product, a plastic model of Hoshino Humina from "Gundam Build Fighters Try" (approx. 250mm in height) will be released in June 2018.

BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd. has been creating various technologies and evolving plastic models at the Bandai Hobby Center (its own factory in Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture). This time, it was announced that a new project, "Figure-riseLABO," has been launched to research expressions that could not be realized with previous plastic models, and to evolve the technology to realize them.

The first phase of the "Figure-riseLABO" project will focus on the theme of "skin" expression.

The first product of the project, which pursues the expression of "skin" by further evolving the company's patented "Layered Injection" technology, has been completed. Figure-riseLABO Hoshino Fumina, a plastic model of Hoshino Fumina from "Gundam Build Fighters Try" (broadcast in 2014), will be released in June 2018.

Layered Injection" is a new molding technique that uses "insert molding" to reproduce detailed coloring of the character's face and eyes, such as highlights and shading in the eyes, and eyelashes and eyebrows in the face, using up to four colors per part. Figure-riseLABO Hoshino Fumina" uses this technology to reproduce a transparency of skin texture that could not be expressed by conventional coloring methods, and it is possible to express blush on the cheeks, shadow on the stomach, and the blood-colored skin on the legs.
In addition, the swimsuit is made with gloss injection technology, giving it a glossy, enamel-like texture, which is also a point of interest.

Layered Injection Description

1. brown color to express eyebrows is molded

By allowing the pink molding color below to penetrate into the areas where the skin tone molding is thinnest, shadow and blush expressions can be achieved.
The thinnest part of the skin color molding is molded with a thickness of 0.5 mm.
