An event report has arrived from the TV anime "Baki," in which declarations of broadcasting code-breaking are flying around!

A report from the special stage held at the TMS Entertainment booth at AnimeJapan 2018, which was held at Tokyo Big Sight on March 24 (Sat.) and 25 (Sun.), has arrived from "Baki," which is set to become a TV anime.

The "Baki" series is a popular fighting manga series serialized by Keisuke Itagaki in "Weekly Shonen Champion" (Akita Shoten) since 1991, depicting battles between the youngest champion of an underground arena, Baki Hanma, and various martial arts masters. A total of 63 million copies of the manga have been sold, and OVAs and TV anime have been produced in the past. To date, there have been 123 volumes of comics plus three extra volumes, as well as numerous spin-offs.

The new TV series will be drawn from the "Deadliest Prisoner Arc" of Part 2 "Baki," a sequel to Part 1 "Grappler Baki," which was adapted into an anime in 2001. The second part of the popular fighting manga series depicts the battles of various martial artists centering on the epic battle to the death between the youngest champion of the underground arena, Baki Hanma, and his father, Yujiro Hanma, who is called "the strongest creature on earth. The TV anime of the second part, "Saibu no Shikenhen Hen" will be broadcast in the summer of 2018.

The following is a report from the " AnimeJapan 2018" held at Tokyo Big Sight on March 24 (Sat.) and 25 (Sun.), which featured a "Special Stage of TV Anime "Baki"" held at the TMS Entertainment booth.

On March 25 (Sun.), a special stage for the TV anime "Baki" was held at the TMS Entertainment booth of AnimeJapan 2018 at Tokyo Big Sight.

The original author Keisuke Itagaki, Nobunaga Shimazaki who plays Baki, and producer Yuki Yokoi, who is in charge of Akita Shoten, took the stage to loud applause and cheers from the audience.


First, the teaser PV of the recently announced TV anime "Baki" was shown.
Watching the powerful scenes of Baki and the most dangerous criminals on death row, as well as the tense sound effects, Mr. Shimazaki said, "There are so many extreme scenes that I'm worried about whether they can be broadcast on TV. Watching the footage, I felt that they were showing their intention to "portray the content of the original work well." Mr. Itagaki commented, "It's as powerful as a trailer for a Western movie. It is as powerful as a trailer for a Western movie," commented Mr. Itagaki. Producer Yokoi said, "I am very pleased with the finished film. I am very satisfied with the finished film. All three expressed their high expectations for the anime adaptation.

Mr. Shimazaki, who was chosen to play the role of Baki, reflected on the audition process and said, "The director told me that everyone was acting with an air of intensity in the image of Baki, so I was very happy to hear that. He told the backstory of how he changed his acting plan on the spot because he felt that the director wanted him to carefully express not only the powerful parts of Baki, but also his emotions. As a result, he passed the audition. I was very happy to have passed the audition," he said.


When we asked producer Yokoi about the anime adaptation, he replied, "The project started five years ago. I am deeply moved to finally be able to present it to you all. He expressed his joy that the project, which has been in the works for a long time, is finally coming to fruition.

When a powerful teaser visual depicting the well-trained body of Baki was revealed, Mr. Itagaki said, "Animators are good at drawing (laughs). The audience looked at the detailed illustrations with admiration.

At this point, another guest from the TV animation staff took the stage. Kei Watabiki, a producer from TMS Entertainment, appeared on stage and declared three promises about the TV anime "Baki.
