Golden Kamui Episode 1: Hokkaido in the pioneer days, buried gold, and a cute Ainu girl. 30 minutes of excitement!

Set in Hokkaido at the end of the Meiji Era, ...... is an adventure in search of "buried gold stolen from the Ainu". The TV anime "Golden Kamui" is sure to excite everyone just by hearing the setting. The broadcast of its first episode, "Wen Kamui," has finally begun!

The main character of this work is Saichi Sugimoto, a former army soldier returning from the Russo-Japanese War, who is known as "Sugimoto the Immortal. In order to fulfill the wish of his best friend Toraji, who died in the war, to cure his wife Umeko's eye disease, Sugimoto dreamed of making a fortune and spent his days mining for gold sand in Hokkaido. Then, Sugimoto met a drunken middle-aged man who told him about the buried gold that had been stolen from the Ainu people.

The man told him that the person who took the gold was imprisoned in Abashiri Prison, and that he had given tattoos to the escaped prisoners in his cell to show them the location of the gold. We tried to ask for more details, but the man fell asleep. At first, Sugimoto thought it was just a drunken joke, but as soon as he sobered up, the man who told him about the buried gold suddenly pulled a gun on Sugimoto, saying that he had talked too much.

Sugimoto was in a desperate situation, but the man was indeed a skilled fighter who had returned from the battlefield. He grabbed the gun, pressed it against his chest, and asked, "Would you like to try it? Do you want to see if I am invulnerable or not? Sugimoto's spirit caught the man off guard and he retrieved the gun, turning the tables on him at once. Realizing that he had no chance to win, the man fled into the forest. Sugimoto watched him and muttered to himself, "What's the matter with you? What the heck, ......, that story you told me earlier is suddenly becoming more and more true! I'm so thrilled to see it. I'm getting excited to see it!

Sugimoto heads for the woods in pursuit of the fleeing man, saying, "If I leave him alone, he might come back to kill me again. But there he finds the man buried in the snow! Sugimoto starts digging in the snow, saying, "Wait for me, I'll pull him out now. Yesterday's enemy is today's friend, or the enemy of a moment ago is now a friend of today. ......Sugimoto's too much of a man, isn't he?

I managed to pull him out of the snow, but the man was already dead. It seems that he was attacked by a brown bear while running away from Sugimoto and buried as leftovers. His neck is broken. He was killed before he could scream...not your lucky day, either," said Sugimoto as he examined the man's body! Yes, the drunken middle-aged man was one of the "escaped prisoners with a tattoo showing the location of the buried treasure.

The Ainu buried treasure is real! Convinced of this, Sugimoto moves from place to place to protect the man's corpse (leftovers), the clue to the buried gold, from the brown bear. However, he encounters a mother brown bear. Sugimoto tries to fight back with his gun, but his rifle sling gets caught on the leg of the corpse he is carrying, and for the second time today, he finds himself in a desperate situation! Even Sugimoto was prepared for the moment when he thought, "I'm going to be eaten! Just as Sugimoto was about to make up his mind that he was going to be eaten, an arrow shot from somewhere hit the brown bear. Sugimoto's plight was saved by an Ainu girl.

Sugimoto explained the situation to the Ainu girl, who saved his life, "A bear that has just come out of its burrow for the winter cannot eat immediately because its stomach has shrunk. Even if it attacked a man to protect its cubs, it would not eat even the meat". In other words, it was another brown bear that attacked the man. It was a dangerous bear called "matakaripu," or "winter prowler," which is a bear that has lost its winter cover and has a bad temper.

Sugimoto tried to carry the man's body to a nearby village, but the "matakaripu" would chase him anywhere if it lost its prey. However, not wanting to give up the clue to the buried treasure, Sugimoto reveals the Ainu's buried treasure, saying, "I have an interesting story to tell you. Sugimoto thought that the Ainu girl would not believe him because the story was so out of the ordinary, but she immediately replied, "I believe it. She said, "My father was among the Ainu who were killed.

Using the dead man's body as bait, the two decided to ambush the brown bear, but the moment he relaxed, Sugimoto was caught off guard by the brown bear. Sugimoto boldly attacked the brown bear with a fist thrust (!?), but it had no effect. But it had no effect. On the advice of an Ainu girl, Sugimoto clung to the bear's belly, wounded it with his knife, and finally succeeded in repelling the bear with his rifle bayonet! The story is said to be "a dangerous and desperate fighting method of the Ainu hunters, using the weight of the brown bear," but is it safe to be pinned under a brown bear that weighs several hundred kilograms? ......

The girl, whose father was killed by the man who took the buried treasure, calls herself Ashi(ri)pa. Sugimoto suggests that Ashi(ri)pa join hands with her to find the gold, but she says, "The Ainu do not eat the meat of bears that have killed people. Bears that do bad things become bad gods and are sent to a hell called Teinepokunamosiri. I don't want to kill people either," replies Ashi(ri)pa. In reply, he says, "You think I'm going to hell if I kill people? Then I have a special seat! Sugimoto smiles.

The fact that this tattooed old man is still alive and hiding means that the gold nuggets have most likely not been found yet. Mr. Asiri, the man who probably killed your father is still alive in prison. The officials don't want to execute him until the gold is found. But the moment the gold is found by someone else, the man is no longer of any use. Finding the gold nuggets will be avenging your father," he persuaded Ashi (Ri) Pa.

He added, "Asi (Lipa), you thought so too, so you helped me, didn't you? I'll do the dirty work. I'll do the dirty work, and you lend me your wisdom. I'm here for money, and you are here to avenge your parents. Our goals are different, but our paths are the same. If the two of us work together, we can be the best of both worlds! And so began the two's adventure for the Ainu buried gold.

The first episode, "Wenkamui," was exciting from the start, with its pioneer-era Hokkaido, buried gold, and cute Ainu girls. The first episode is a bit serious and explanatory, as the original story has a lot of explanations and dialogues, but it gives a good grasp of the story! The unique characters that will appear in the future, Ashi(ri)pa's expressive facial expressions (!), and the mouth-watering food are just a few of the things that will whet your appetite. I am looking forward to seeing more unique characters, Asi (Ri-pa)'s facial expressions, and mouth-watering Ainu cuisine (?!). I can't wait for the second episode! I can't wait for the second episode!
