Gintama" is a popular manga series by Hideaki Sorachi, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since 2004. Set in the parallel world of Edo (Tokyo), the manga is a painful entertainment series that depicts gags, spectacular action, and deep human emotions.
The live-action version of "Gintama," directed by Yuichi Fukuda and starring Shun Oguri and featuring the most superb cast ever assembled, became a blockbuster hit in 2017, grossing 3.84 billion yen at the final box office and becoming the No. 1 live-action Japanese film of 2017.

It has now been announced that its sequel, "Gintama 2 (tentative)," will be released on August 17 (Friday).

As for the cast of "Gintama 2 (tentative)," it has been announced that Shun Oguri, who plays the main character Gintoki Sakata, will appear and Jiro Sato will appear in an undisclosed role.
