Major Second" Episode 2 Thoughts: It's Hard Being Second-Generation

Editor K actually watched the critically acclaimed TV anime "Major Second" and wrote his thoughts on it.

Episode 2: It's Hard Being a Second-Generation Student

The transfer student Hikaru Sato, who appeared at the end of episode 1, turns out to be Hisaya Sato, a friend of Daigo's father, Goro, and a famous catcher who also played in the big leagues! A shocking fact out of the blue. Many people must have wondered, "When did that Hisaya get married? I'm sure many of you must have wondered, "When did he get married?

His son told me that he had spent a long time in New York.

Currently, there are two major baseball teams in New York, the New York Yankees and the New York Mets, both of which are popular teams.

Incidentally, Masahiro Tanaka, a pitcher, is currently playing for the New York Yankees. The New York Mets do not have any Japanese players at this time (April 2018), but they used to have players such as Nobuchika Aoki, Daisuke Matsuzaka, and Masato Yoshii. Of course, the Yankees famously had Godzilla Matsui and Ichiro.

With the arrival of Hikaru-kun, Daigo has completely given up playing baseball, and yet people ask him why he stopped playing baseball. I am not a "Nisei," of course, so I don't know how he feels, but the "son of Goro Shigeno" sign seems to be heavy, and even I feel don't like watching it.

Then, as if to catch up with him, his grandfather Eiki Shigeno and his grandmother Momoko Shigeno appeared on the stage. Of course, Eiki Shigeno is a former pitcher for the Yokohama Blue Oceans professional baseball team. In an environment where baseball players are on both the left and right, it is not easy to reject baseball.

So friends, siblings, and family all try to get Daigo to play baseball somehow. The author thinks that everyone should watch over him a little more, but everyone is unconcerned. Then, at his mother's request, Daigo is forced to participate in a practice game as a helper for the Dolphins, the team he used to be a member of.

Moreover, that Hikaru Sato appears again! What a surprise, he had joined the Dolphins. It's a story, isn't it? Hikaru starts on the bench for the time being. Daigo was not pitching, but playing outfield this time. The game started out well for Daigo. He was playing baseball happily. He really loves baseball.

However, Daigo's pitching and hitting were not very good. The members of the Dolphins team criticize him, saying, "He's not much of a player," and his heart gradually turns dark. I feel the darkness in his heart. Because of his father's greatness, he is always compared to his father in every way.

In the midst of all this, a teammate is injured and Hikaru-kun takes over as a player. How does he play? Everyone watches with bated breath, but to their surprise, he throws an ordinary outfield fly ball backward and overthrows the ball. Then he says, "This is my first time playing baseball.
What? Didn't you play baseball in New York? I'll continue this thought in the next article.

By the way, Goro Shigeno and Hisaya Sato, the duo from "Majors," did not appear this time.

Episode 2 Synopsis

The father of Hikaru Sato, a transfer student from the U.S., was a friend of Goro, Daigo's father, and a famous catcher who also played in the big leagues, Hisaya Sato!

Hikaru immediately asks Daego if he wants to join the neighborhood baseball team, but Daego, who is completely fed up with baseball, is not very friendly toward Hikaru...

That night, Daigo's mother Kaoru receives a request from Fujii, the Dolphins' manager, asking if she can borrow Daigo for a weekend practice game since they are short on players.
