Plenty of talk by legends of the voice acting world that you can only hear here! Talk~Voice Work~part I" Interview with Koshi Mori, Shuichi Ikeda, Keiko Ban

A special talk show by veteran voice actors Isshi Mori, Shuichi Ikeda, and Keiko Ban will be held at Suntory Hall/Blue Rose (Small Hall) in Tokyo on May 4, 2018 (Friday, national holiday).

What will the three, who have worked in numerous animations, movies, and narrations, have to say? Even if you are not an old fan, you are looking forward to it.

This time, we talked to Mr. Mori, Mr. Ikeda, and Mr. Ban, who are preparing for their talk show, about a variety of topics!

───How did you come up with the idea for this project?

Mori: In the credits, I am supposed to be the chairperson, but in fact, it was Shu-chan (Mr. Ikeda) and Keiko (Mr. Ban) who came up with the plan, and I was the one who took over. Actually, I have been wanting to get together for a while now while we are all still healthy (laughs). So, that's it! Let's do it! I said, "Let's do it! At my age, people around me are getting lonelier and lonelier.

Ban: There is a café and bar in Osaka called "Umiwashi," which was started by big fans of the work "The Legend of the Galactic Heroes. When I was having dinner with the owner of the bar and Mr. Ikeda, we started talking about it casually.

Ikeda I was drinking alcohol exclusively, though. When we were drinking, those interesting stories would come up (laughs).

─ By the way, have the three of you ever been together at events, etc. ......?

Pan: Only drinking parties (laughs). I believe we once worked together at an postrecording session when I was playing the role of Iselina Eschenbach in "Mobile Suit Gundam," but I don't know if it was ever at .......

Ikeda Back then, we had different groups to drink with after work.

Mori I was at Aoni Productions at the time, so I used to drink with Kaneto Shiozawa a lot.

Ikeda I was with Hirotaka Suzuki.

Ban By the way, I was working in detention at the studio (laughs).

─ What do you think is the secret of your energy?

Mori: I think it's that I don't hold on to my thoughts and say them out loud.

Ikeda I try not to remember what I said. It's called "irresponsible speech" (laughs).

─ If the next talk show were to be held, are there any guests you would like to invite?

Mori: If there was a phone or LINE connection to the other side of the world, I would love to chat with Kaneto.

Ikeda If that's the case, I would like to see Suzuki for the first time in a long time, too.

─ ─ What would you like to do on the talk show?

Pan I would like to do a "What's inside the box? I'd like to put living things and other things inside the box and have a lot of fun.

Mori That sounds great! How about inviting some male fans from the audience and shuffle them around with Shu-chan and guess who is Shu-chan?

Pan On the other hand, you could have Ikeda-san do the same thing with me and female audience members.

Ikeda Don't get me involved ...... (smiles).

Pan But I think it's not a bad idea, right?

Mori...... I don't know if what we just talked about will come true (laughs), but I would like to make it a talk show that is interactive and enjoyable, not just a one-way conversation for us.

Ikeda We are looking forward to seeing you.

─ Now, please give a message to our readers.

Mori: We have talked about many things that I have missed, but I am sure we will be able to deliver more in-depth stories on the talk show, so please look forward to it!

Ban: The other day, I was asked on a TV program, "During the recording of "Mobile Suit Gundam," did you act with the feeling that you were enemies with each other? I answered, "I had never talked with Mr. Ikeda. What was going on in the studio at that time? We may be able to talk about something like that. Please look forward to the talk show, where you never know what will come out of it!

Ikeda: I'm sure the conversation will flow, but there may also be some loving snide remarks directed at today's young voice actors.

All (laughs).

Pan I hope you don't post it on SNS, just between you and me. Thank you very much!

Mori: That's right (laughs). Well, then, please look forward to it!
