Logitech's flagship keyboard for e-sports "G512" & gaming speakers "G560" launch report

Logitech announced the G512 flagship gaming keyboard for e-sports and the G560, Logitech's first gaming speaker, on Wednesday, April 25.

The press conference was held today, Wednesday, April 25, at the e-sports SQUARE AKIHABARA in Akihabara, Tokyo, and began with a presentation by Issei Shioya, Senior Assistant Cluster Category Manager for Logitech's Gaming Category, and Logitech G Mr. Taiga Kishi, the brand ambassador of Logitech's gaming brand "Logitech G", took the stage at the press conference. As an intro before the announcement of the new products, the history of the Logitech G series was introduced.

The "G-Series" started in 2005 as Logitech's peripherals for gamers, and in 2013, the brand name was changed to "Logitech G" and the product lineup was greatly expanded. Then, in 2014, a keyboard with ROMER-G, a unique mechanical switch for gaming that combines high durability, reliability, and performance, was introduced. In 2017, Logitech continued to introduce innovative products such as the HERO optical sensor, which combines high performance and power efficiency, and a mouse with Powerplay, a wireless charging system for gaming mice.

Following the introduction of the Logitech G series, Chris Pate, Logitech G product portfolio manager, took the stage. Following the introduction of the "Logitech G" series, Chris Pate, Portfolio Manager of "Logitech G" products, took the stage to explain the "G512" gaming keyboard and "G560" gaming speakers, which were announced today.

The G512 is a flagship gaming keyboard that features a highly durable 5052 aluminum alloy body used in aircraft and Romer-G key switches that have passed a 70 million click endurance test. The new lineup includes two models: the "Romer-G Tactile," which has the same clear keystroke feel as the previous "Romer-G," and the "Romer-G Linear," which has a smoother, more fluid keystroke feel. The "Romer-G Linear" model is smoother and smoother than the "Romer-G Tactile" model. Each key has a built-in RGB backlight and is compatible with LIGHTSYNC technology, which lights up in conjunction with in-game actions.

And Logitech's first gaming speaker, the G560, is a 2.1-channel speaker with satellite output: 30W x 2 and subwoofer output: 60W. By employing the DTS:X Ultra engine, which creates three-dimensional sound based on various 2-channel sound sources, the G560 delivers surround sound that allows users to see enemies approaching from behind even though it is 2.1ch, and by incorporating a metal driver with a maximum output of 240W, users can enjoy powerful, loud sound.

In addition, the speakers are equipped with LIGHTSYNC-compatible backlighting. In compatible games, the lights flash red and blue when being chased by a police car, or change from white to yellow to red when being attacked by an enemy and losing energy. The system also has a function that recognizes the color of the game screen and turns on lights of the same color, even when the game is not compatible with the system.

Following Chris Pate's introduction of the new product, professional gamers Sumomoxx and CiNVe gave a demonstration of playing "Fortnite. The "G560" gaming speakers were loud enough to enjoy powerful sound even at the rear of the venue, away from the stage. As for the "G512" gaming keyboard, Mr. Sumomo, who used the "Linear" model, commented, "Despite being more compact than the "G810" that I usually use, the weight of the "G810" is inherited, and it is very stable and usable. CiNVe, who used the "Tactile" model, commented, "The key touch is very light, making it easy to take action on the spur of the moment.

Mr. Taiga Kishi, who has been using the G512 and G560 for about a month and a half, commented on the G512, "The Tactile model has the click and lightness characteristic of the conventional Romer-G, and it seems a little more stable, perhaps due to minor adjustments. The Linear has a very soft key touch, and unlike the clicky switch, the switch is pressed smoothly, so I think more people will experience the quality of the Romer-G. The switches of both products are pressed in different ways, and the quality of the switches varies depending on how much force is applied.

As for the G560, "I actually played 'Fortnite' and the LEDs changed to purple when I entered a storm, and to orange at sunset. It's nice to be able to work with a keyboard, mouse, etc. The bass pressure down-firing from the woofer is tremendous, and the 240W power is tremendous; Windows volume around 10 is more than sufficient. The sound is beautiful and suitable not only for games but also for music and movies. It also has an equalizer, so if you are concerned about sound leakage, you can use a custom equalizer or select Drop the Bass by default.
