Rare behind-the-scenes talks and a live performance of a song performed for the first time! Report on the "Good Luck Saturday" event for the TV anime "Anime Gatariz!

The TV anime "Anime Gatari's" aired from October to December 2017. The event "Good Luck Saturday♪" was held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Bunkyo Civic Hall.

The event featured "music," one of the important elements of the work. In addition to the main cast members Kaede Motowatari (Asagaya Minoai), Ayaka Sengi (Kamigusa Arisu), and Nisako Tojo (Koenji Miko), the event featured director Kenshiro Morii, Hidekazu Tanaka (MONACA) who composed and arranged the theme song, music directors Keigo Hozoku (MONACA) and Kuniyuki Takahashi ( (MONACA), and rock band AZLiGHTZ, who sings a song in the film. Hironori Kondo (Neko Senpai) also livened up the event with his voice.

The secret story behind the production of the music that colored the work was revealed.

The event started with a live performance of "Koisuru G-A-T-A-L-I-S!" by GATALIS (Minoa Asagaya [CV: Kaede Motowatari] / Alice Kamiigusa "CV: Ayaka Senbongi" / Miko Koenji [CV: Hisako Tojo]). The three appeared in school uniforms with hair and glasses that matched their characters, and performed a fun-filled stage show to a light melody. During the MC after the song, they told the audience that this was not only the first time they had performed the song live, but also the first time they had sung together since they had recorded the song separately.

During the MC, Neko Senpai's voice was heard. Apparently, a letter from the student body president (Tsubaki Akabane) had arrived and said that the Anime Research Club would be discontinued after this event due to the lack of ...... activity. In order to escape the closure of the club, they needed cheers like the one at the cultural festival in episode 8 of the anime, so they were to go on various missions to acquire "lighting," "piano," and "headset.

The first mission was the "Suddenly! Gatari's Quiz".

The jab-like question, "Answer the names of six members of the Anime Research Club within 30 seconds," was cleared without difficulty. Nakano-senpai was called "Dogezaemon" with a reference to the last episode.

Next was the "Look back at GATARIZ with the soundtrack! The guests in the corner were Director Morii and Mamoru Nakano.

Director Morii and three members of MONACA appeared as corner guests and talked about the music while showing images on the screen. If they could bring out the best in the guests, the mission was a success.

The song playing in the club room during the scene where they talked about the laws of masterpiece anime was "Anime Gatariz Pop," composed by Mr. Hozoku. Director Morii requested that the song be "like an information program," and it took him about six hours to create it. In addition, the song "The Hustle and Bustle of the Downtown Area," which was played in the scene where Minoa goes to Akihabara for the first time, was written by Mr. Takahashi. He laughed and said that this song did not come to his mind ...... when he was actually walking around Akihabara.

In addition, on the topic of "Two in Confrontation" (composed by Mr. Takahashi), which is played in the scene where the student council appears, a question was asked as to how much thought was given to the correlation of the characters when creating the song.

While many songs are composed before the script is completed, for this work, all the materials were available in advance, and the temperature of the "confrontation" was considered based on the relationship between the two characters.

Many people may be surprised by the music that evokes famous works in this film. The "Holy Land Pilgrimage March," which was played during the pilgrimage scene, is said to have been requested by the director. However, it is said that the technique is such that the songs do not sound so similar when listened to alone, but when combined with the pictures, they sound similar.

The last part of the corner was a message from Natsumi Tadano, who wrote the lyrics to the song "Good Luck Lilac," which was used as the ending theme and in the school festival scene. The title of the song came to her first, and then the lyrics were written.

After all the behind-the-scenes stories were told, the mission was a success and a piano was acquired. Using the piano, Mr. Hozoku performed live, enriching the audience's hearts with his gentle and inspiring tones.

Hot live performance of insert songs and theme songs

The next corner was "Twitter-linked Question Gatari's! .

The three cast members answered questions submitted via Twitter.

One question asked, "What genre do you think Minoa will fall into?" to which Ms. Hondo answered, "Robotics. He thought that Minoa's passionate energy would be a good match for robotics. Some said that all genres would be good, based on the way she listened to the members of the club in the production.

Sengoku-san was asked, "What have you thought was good luck lately?" He was asked, "When my schedule goes well," to which he replied with happiness in his daily life. Tojo was asked about the anime she used to watch, and she answered about her own anime history. He said that he went from witch-kids to interdimensional tennis matches, which is how he discovered the existence of voice actors.

All three answered the question about their kitchen sickness, and talked about how they used to display goods of the characters. Among them, Hondo-san told his first confession: "I got lipstick on my life-size tapestry. As to why the lipstick got on the tapestry, we will leave that to ......'s imagination.

Also, the question "If your character were to go on a date, what would it be? Let your imagination run wild!" The question was asked, "Is there a man out there who would be a match for Arisu?" The girls talked about how they would like Sebas to watch over them in the shadows and not come snapping his fingers when they fall in love, how they would like Miko to have a childhood friend (boyfriend), and how they would like Minoa to be about two years older than them even if there was an age difference.

After successfully completing their mission, the three left the stage for the live performance by AZLiGHTZ, who sang the inserted song. All members of AZLiGHTZ, which is active mainly in Fukuoka, are anime otaku, and they were very happy to be chosen for this event.

They sang two songs, "Freesia," which was inspired by the image of the bond between friends, and "Lost Eden," which was impressive as the hot background music in the scene where Alice Robo appeared in the show. The fast-paced rock tunes were soul-stirring with the kind of heat that makes you feel as if you had just stepped into a robot anime.

Building on this momentum, the three members of GATALIS performed a special version of "Good Luck Lilac," starting with Hozoku's piano performance. With the help of the audience, the stage was further transformed into a reenactment of episode 8. Not only were the dances and calls recreated, but the audience could also feel the freedom of movement and the joyful atmosphere of the three performers that only a live performance can provide.

After the drawing for autographed goods, each of the performers gave a few words. They expressed their gratitude for being involved in the work, gave their impressions of the event, and talked about "Machi★Asobi" a year ago and the recording of the show. Mr. Hondo sent a message saying, "It doesn't matter when you start watching this work, and I don't think there are many works that put that much play into it, so I hope you will continue to like it.

The event ended with the chants of "Good Luck Saturday! The event ended with the chants of "Good Luck Saturday!
