The "Monster Hunter" series is a hunting action game in which players face off against giant monsters in a magnificent natural setting. In "Monster Hunter: World," the latest title in the series and the first for a console in nine years , players become hunters who set foot on a "new continent" as part of a survey team and explore an unknown continent.

This latest title marks a major change from previous titles in the series, allowing players to move seamlessly between areas and perform various actions, display damage figures to monsters, and join quests mid-way through the game. It has become a record-breaking blockbuster title, with worldwide shipments exceeding 8 million units (as of April 16, 2018).
