Popular songs chosen by fans were performed all at once! WUG and RGR also performed together for the first time at "Green Leaves Fes" LUNCH SESSION REPORT!

On May 12, 2018, "Green Leaves Fes" was held at Makuhari Event Hall, Makuhari Messe. (WUG) and "Run Girls, Run!" (RGR), who belong to the same office "GREEN LEAVES," performed together in the anime "Wake Up, Girls! (RGR), both of which belong to GREEN LEAVES. The collaboration between the two units had already been realized in the main anime series, and now it has finally become a reality.

The daytime session was a special event in that the song to be sung was decided by fan voting. The daytime session was voted by the public on the official website, while the nighttime session was voted by the members of the official fan club "Wagurabu". This time, we report on the daytime session!

If you ask me what the appeal of "Wake Up, Girls!" as a unit is, I would answer that it is the music. Of course, it goes without saying that each member is very attractive, but no one would deny that one of the main pillars of WUG is its cool music. And it has been carried on by its younger sister unit, "Run Girls, Run! The countdown style of this live performance, where the songs were sung starting with the 15th most popular song, was very interesting in itself.

The daytime session started with "HIGAWARI PRINCESS," a stylish and cool song that was sung by a different princess at each venue during the 3rd live tour in 2004. The horns are impressive, which may be said to be standard for WUG songs. It features dancing with stick, and the performance while relaying the stick is good.

No. 14 was "7 Senses," the OP song of the TV anime "Wake Up, Girls! The lyrics and music video linked to the content of the anime, which is about the development of each member's individuality, are good.

This song is connected to the first anime OP "7 Girls War," composed by Hidekazu Tanaka (MONACA), and the link between the lyrical content and the vocal assignments is wonderful.

At No. 13 was "Wolf and Piano," the only entry among the solo character songs. The fact that it was ranked both day and night shows the popularity of this song. Perhaps everyone wants to say "shanshan" (shanshan)! I have heard them live several times, but this performance was definitely the best. Especially the dialogue parts are really cool! I could also clearly feel her growth as a voice actress.

After the MC, the 12th place went to "Kakeru x Kakeru" by Run Girls, Run! This was a rock number composed by Satoru Kamizaki (MONACA), lyrics by Natsumi Tadano, and arrangements by Keiichi Hirokawa (MONACA), three very strong performers. The audience was also loud on this day. It was good to see the three members, who have only just debuted, singing this song in a rough and ready manner.

Then, "Little Challenger" was sung by the remaining members of Run Girls, Run! In the MC after the show, Ms. Yoshioka said, "I was extremely nervous being the only senior member," but I really felt that the dependable senior member was leading the group with her singing. The exchange of "I love you, I love you" between Ms. Yoshioka and Koko Hayashi was also great!

In 10th place was "Koi? The 10th place went to "Love, love, love, love! And I'm a tyrant! The 10th place went to "Koi? This song is also included in the recently released best album "Wake Up, Best! 3," but is actually a tie-in song for another work, "Love Tyrant. Perhaps it is just the nature of the public vote that such a song is ranked, but I personally think it is a song with so much power that it would be a hit at any anime festival no matter where it is taken. Here, it was performed while riding a trolley around the venue.

Ninth place went to "Platinum Sunrise. It is a bit of a maniacal song for two performers, but it is a song with deep-rooted popularity. Perhaps the fact that the song is not often heard at live performances is the reason for its ranking.

No. 8 "Gokujo Smile" was performed by the 10 members of Wake Up, Girls! Composed and arranged by Hidekazu Tanaka (MONACA), this is a song with plenty of parts to call out, and is truly a song that can be blasted at a live performance. On this day, the audience had a great time with call and response interspersed in the middle of the song. It's hard to resist such an uplifting ani-song with great taste in music and the coolest arrangement and performance.

No. 7 "7 Girls War" is the first single of WUG! I think this is the song that WUG is best known for. I was excited at the time because it was co-written by Satoru Kanzen and Hidekazu Tanaka, and I think it is a song that has not faded away over the years. The fact that it still sounds fresh even though it has been sung live for a long time is wonderful, and I applaud WUG for continuing to sing it with such a fresh feeling. The singers were dressed in their school uniforms that they wore on the CD jacket of the same song. Don't forget your first love.

No. 6, "Agape for a 16-Year-Old," was a coupling song of "7 Girls War. Hayashi, who turns 16 on May 15, sang the main part of the song! Hayashi, who turns 16 on May 15, sang the main part of the song, and it was just like that. I was amazed at how bright and happy she sang, and enjoyed the real "Agape of a 16-Year-Old". Mr. Hirokawa's melody and Ms. Tadano's lyrics were also wonderful. Incidentally, all three seemed deeply moved by the song as it was a memorable song they had sung a year ago when they performed as a unit at RGR.

No. 5 was "Seventeen Crisis," a song performed by the five members (Maasuke Yoshioka, Airi Nagano, Kaya Okuno, Nanami Yamashita, and Misuke Takagi) on their 2nd live tour, the same as the No. 9 song. Indeed, that tour was very impressive and a good live performance, so I wanted to take this opportunity to see it again! Perhaps it was the strong feeling of "I want to see it again on this occasion! As more songs are added, there will be fewer opportunities to perform each song. It could be said that the songs were chosen only by fan voting, but since both songs were in the top positions in the evening session, it must be the consensus of the Wagner audience.

Fourth place went to "Beyond the Bottom. This song still left a strong impression from "Beyond the Bottom," the second part of "Wake Up, Girls! The spectacle of the audience being painted white was breathtaking. It is a moving song, and they have already shown a stable stage performance.

And in third place, "Tachiagare! (Tachiagare!). This is another song I have seen performed many times, and it was performed with Run Girls, Run! As was the case with "Gokujo Smile," the members appeared in the audience in a guerrilla-like fashion, performing upstairs and in the back, which I thought was both entertaining and pleasing for the fans. The scene at the end of "New Chapter," when the members sang in the audience seats during equipment trouble, was beautifully recreated as a stage direction, and the audience enjoyed the sense of attraction of not knowing where to turn their attention. The flow of the song, in which Ms. Yoshioka and Ms. Aoyama sang solos and then everyone sang in unison, is one of WUG's weapons, and I could feel it especially strongly in this song.

Second place went to "Polaris. This song was sung in the snow at the end of "New Chapter" and the lyrics were written by all seven members of WUG. This song was included on the album, and as I listened to it over and over again in full length, I found that it became a bigger and bigger song for me. It feels like a sparkling, shiny, very happy song, but the lyrics also express my feelings for Tohoku. When I read the lyrics, I was moved. I think this song is exactly what the girls can sing now. The melody and lyrics are that great. The girls were dressed in "Polaris" costumes, and although they had sung the song at a fan club event, this was the first time they performed it.

After the greetings from the 10 members who appeared today, the first song performed was "Shoujo Symphony. Personally, I prefer "Polaris" (laughs), but this song is also one of the most representative songs of the girls. It is an insert song for the movie "Wake Up, Girls! Seishun no Kage", and its melody and strings are impressive and nostalgic, a little bit like the Showa period. Despite the seriousness of the song, you can sing along and get excited at a live performance. This sense of balance is probably due to Hidekazu Tanaka. As it was the last song of the day, "Tachiagare! I was reminded once again of the power of Yoshioka-san and Aoyama-san's solo parts, as in the case of the last song of the day. I thought that the experience they have cultivated so far really came out on stage. I also felt the freshness of Run Girls, Run! The tour was announced as a surprise, and I am sure the girls will grow bigger and bigger from now on.

WUG and RGR announced their next tours in the daytime and at night, respectively. The live performances are a rare opportunity to see these masterpieces performed live, so we look forward to seeing the two groups in action starting in the summer!
