The new reorganized edition of "SLAM DUNK," the gold standard of basketball manga, will be published for four consecutive months starting June 1 (Friday), and the entire cover of the first volume, even the back cover, as well as book shadows of volumes 2 through 6 and a present plan for purchasing all 20 volumes of the new reorganized edition have been announced.

The series is a boys' manga by Takehiko Inoue, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from issue #42 in 1990 to issue #27 in 1996. The series has sold more than 120 million copies in Japan. The story follows the main character, Hanamichi Sakuragi, a basketball novice who joins the Shohoku High School basketball team and rapidly develops his talent as he clashes with his teammate Kaede Rukawa and competes against other strong schools. The story's depiction of gripping games and characters who put their adolescence on the line to play basketball resonated with readers and won overwhelming support. The TV anime was broadcast from October 1993 to March 1996, and a video game was also produced.

In the new reorganized edition of "SLAM DUNK," all 31 volumes of the previously published JUMP Comics are reorganized into a total of 20 volumes, with each volume divided into sections such as the "conclusion of the game. The title of each volume will be "Shohoku vs. Shoyo" so that the contents of each volume can be recognized at a glance, andthe author, Takehiko Inoue, will be drawing new illustrations for the covers of all 20 volumes. The cover of the first volume, including the part that had not been shown on the back cover of the comics, has now been revealed. The cover of the second volume of the series, which was also announced, depicts Nagarekawa on the cover of the second volume, followed by Akagi on the third volume, and so on until the sixth volume, which depicts characters attending Shohoku High School.
This project is designed to provide readers with new expressions and never-before-seen scenes of the characters, which are depicted from a different perspective from the existing JUMP Comics.
Also, the back cover of the second and subsequent volumes may feature a different character, so be sure to check it out tomorrow, June 1, when you purchase your copy of the comic book.

It was also announced that all purchasers of the 20 volumes of the newly reorganized edition of "SLAM DUNK" will receive a "Prefectural Tournament 'The Night Before the Battle'" oversized poster, produced especially for this project, as a special present.

In addition, to commemorate the publication of the newly restructured edition of "SLAM DUNK," a large advertisement will run from June 1 (Fri.) to 15 (Fri.) at Shibuya Hachiko Square. The ads will feature a high-impact illustration drawn by Takehiko Inoue for the newly reorganized edition, so be sure to check them out as well.

Campaign Information
All applicants will receive a present when they purchase all volumes of the newly reorganized edition.

Fill out the application postcard inserted in the first volume of the newly restructured edition of "SLAM DUNK" and attach the application ticket attached to the obi of each volume for all 20 volumes, and submit your application by December 25, 2018 (Tuesday, postmarked by that date). The poster size is 59cm x 59cm (H x W x D) and the poster is available for purchase at the "Prefectural Competition" booth.
