Voice actress Akiko Yajima will be stepping down from her role as Shinnosuke Nohara in the popular TV anime "Crayon Shin-chan," it was announced on TV Asahi's official anime website. 29 June will be her last appearance on the show.

The decision to step down was made after discussions with the show's production staff, who said, "It has become difficult to maintain Shinnosuke's voice, and I have become so focused on the work of creating the character's voice that it has become difficult to express myself naturally as the character. The voice actor is currently being worked out and will be announced as soon as it is decided.

TV Asahi commented, "All of us at TV Asahi would like to express our deepest gratitude to Akiko Yajima, who has infused "Crayon Shin-chan" with lively and very appealing characterization, and who has continued to support the show over the years. Thank you very much," she commented.

Ms. Yajima played the role of Shinnosuke for 26 years and 3 months since the program started on April 13, 1992. He has also appeared in many other popular works, including the role of Lilina Dorian (Lilina Peacecraft) in "New Mobile Suit Gundam W" and the role of Amber in "Inuyasha.
