You Still Don't Know Gumma" Episode 9 Thoughts: "Gumma's Sports Day" is divided into teams from each of the three Jomo mountains. This is common sense

The short anime "You Still Don't Know Gunma" started this April.
Based on a comic serialized on the web comic distribution site "Kurage Bunch," it is a comedy in which "Gunma" (Gunma Prefecture/people in Gunma Prefecture), which is often disparaged on the Internet, is deformed with exaggerated action scenes with a lot of tension.

This work is so local that only the local commercial TV station, Gunma Television (Gunma Television), broadcasts it, which makes us cry. However, it is also available on Animax and GYAO! The author, a native of Gunma, will delve into the details of such a super-local work with love and explanation.

The theme of episode 9 is "Sports Day in Gumma. It is divided into a first part and a second part (was there really that much to talk about?). This is the first part of the two. In the previous episode, the main character, Kozuki, was asked to go to his nephew Minoru's elementary school field day on behalf of his parents. He asked his nephew, "Are you in the red group or the white group? and he learns a startling fact about Gunma....

You see, Kamizuki, in Gunma's elementary school athletic meets, there is no simple team division into red and white teams. Elementary schools in Gumma are usually divided into teams named after the three mountains of Jomo: Akagi, Haruna, and Myogi (in some cases, Asama is added to the three, making four teams), and they compete against each other. This is not the norm in Gumma. (I mean, I don't know how teams are organized in other prefectures...)

I should explain about the three Jomo Sanzan mountains here. The three mountains are Mt. Akagi, Mt. Haruna, and Mt. Myogi. There are many other mountains in Gumma (Tanigawa-dake, for example), but these three mountains stand out because of their prominence on the plains of Gumma, which are located on the edge of the Kanto Plain. If you land on the plains of Gumma, you will surely see these three mountains. Akagi and Haruna are located in the central part of the prefecture and have a long base, making their presence very significant. These two mountains are enough to understand (at least for me) where I am at the moment. Compared to these two mountains, Mt. Myogisan is less than 1,000 meters high and has little presence. However, Mt. Myogi has a feature that these two mountains do not have. That is its shape! Unlike Akagi and Haruna, which are volcanoes, Mt. Myogi is an old rocky mountain, and its shape, due to long erosion by wind and water, is so mysterious that it could be called a strange rock. Well, I don't know if it was appreciated or not, but anyway, these three mountains, including Myogisan (Mt. Myogi), are familiar to the people of Gumma Prefecture as the three mountains of Jomo.

And, as Gumma people live inseparable from the mountains, they name their teams after these three mountains (plus Mt. Asama) and compete hard in elementary school athletic meets as a sign of respect for the greatness of nature. Isn't that kind of a nice story? (Huh? (Not really?).

Kyo Shinooka (CV: Aya Uchida), a classmate of Kozuki's who is currently his adversary, is visiting the elementary school and is invited to participate in the scavenger hunt as a member of Akagi's team, and Kyo is invited as a member of Haruna's team. Kohzuki has to go head-to-head with Kyo, who is determined to win....

Incidentally, Yeti, a member of the same JKJ group as Kyo, also makes an appearance. The voice of Yeti was voiced by Yui Ogura, the same voice as last week!
She plays a very different character from her image this time as well.

We will continue in the next issue!
