Tanita starts crowdfunding for "Twin Stick VTX" controller compatible with PS4 "Toaru Majutsu no Dennou Senki"!

Tanita Corporation has started a crowdfunding project for the controller "Twin Stick VTX (Version Tanita Extra)" for Sega Games' PS4 game "Virturon x Toaru Majutsu no Index: A Certain Magical Index (Toaru Majutsu no Den-no-Senki)" (hereinafter "A Certain Magical Device"). The crowdfunding project started today, June 8 (Fri.) at 12:00.

The "Twin Stick VTX" realizes direct operation using the "twin sticks," the two control rods that characterize the "Virtualon" series, and perfectly recreates the excitement of the arcade games that are the origin of the series in the home.

The application for the purchase-type crowdfunding campaign began today, June 8 (Fri.) at 12:00 p.m., and the goal is to receive a total of 5,000 units at 55,400 yen per unit (including tax) by 23:59 p.m. on July 30 (Mon.). If the crowdfunding campaign is successful, the return product will be shipped in May 2019.

Toaru Majutsu no Dennou Senki" (A Certain Magical Device), which the Twin Stick VTX is compatible with, is the latest in the "Virturon" series. The first title in the series, "Dennou Senki Virtual-On," was released in 1995 as an arcade game. The intuitive operation using the "twin sticks," two control rods installed in a dedicated cabinet, and the speedy and deep gameplay that allows players to read their opponents' moves have been well received by many game fans, and the series has become a popular series with five titles released to date.

Despite the popularity of the series, there is no Twin Stick compatible with the latest "Toaru Majutsu no Dennou Senki" game, so the company is now seeking support through crowdfunding in order to develop a product that will meet the expectations of the fans. The crowdfunding will be done through "Campfire," a platform provided by CAMPFIRE Inc.

The concept of the "Twin Stick VTX" developed by Tanita is "Twin Stick for life. With the full cooperation of Sega Games, the product is designed to fully reproduce the excitement of arcade games at home, and features the same operability and high durability as a dedicated cabinet.

The stick's tilt angle has been increased from 4 degrees in previous home-use Twin Stick models to 8 degrees, reproducing the same operability as the arcade version. In addition, the structure of the stick base has been reinforced to ensure high durability against "torsion" and "applied weight. Furthermore, the wiring layout in the main unit has been simplified to enhance maintainability, as previous home-use Twin Stick models often required users to disassemble and replace parts themselves. The company also plans to develop the stick base with a view to selling it as a replacement part for the dedicated arcade version.
