PS4 "Gran Turismo SPORT", the FIA Gran Turismo Championship begins today, June 19!

The FIA Gran Turismo Championship for "Gran Turismo SPORT" for PS4, now on sale from Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), started today, June 19 (Tuesday).

The "FIA Gran Turismo Championship" is a new motor sport proposed by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) and Gran Turismo. Players from all over the world will compete against each other through the sports mode in Gran Turismo SPORT, and the top ranked players will advance to the grand stage of Region Finals and World Finals. The champion who wins the World Finals will be honored on the stage of "FIA GARA" just like a real-life motorsports champion.

And today, Tuesday, June 19, after months of testing and fine-tuning, the 2018 FIA Gran Turismo Championship begins!　The online season, which runs from June to September 2018, is open to everyone*, with the top players advancing to the Region Finals and World Finals scheduled to take place in October and November 2018, after the online season ends.
*The online season is open to anyone from within the Sports Mode of Gran Turismo SPORT, but participation in the Region Finals and World Finals will only be open to players 18 years and older. PlayStation®Plus subscription is required to play the Sports Mode.

The 2018 season will consist of the Preseason (May), Seasons 1 and 2 (June-July), and the Finals. ～The 2018 season will consist of the Pre-Season (held in May), Seasons 1 and 2 (scheduled for June through July), and the Final Season (scheduled for August through September), and will consist of "Online Races" that can be participated in from the Sports Mode of Gran Turismo SPORT, and "Live Events" linked to those races.

The "Live Event" will include the "World Tour" in which the top players of the "Online Race" will participate, the "Nations Cup Region Finals" to determine the champion of each Nations Cup region, and the "World Finals" to determine the world champion.


Players who participate in the "Online Race" will earn points according to their ranking, and the top players in the season point ranking will be able to register as "Star Players" (*) through the official Gran Turismo website.
Star Player registration is only available to players 18 years of age or older.

Each of the "Live Event" finals will be held at attractive locations around the world and broadcast online, just like the exhibition live event held at the Nürburgring in Germany from May 10 (Thursday) to 13 (Sunday), 2018.
