Final Thoughts on "You Still Don't Know Gunma": We Didn't Know Gunma Yet?

The short anime "You Still Don't Know Gunma" started this April.
Based on a comic serialized on the web comic distribution site "Kurage Bunch," it is a comedy in which " Gunma" (Gunma Prefecture/people in Gunma Prefecture), which is often disparaged on the Internet, is deformed with exaggerated action scenes with a lot of tension.

This work is so local that only the local commercial TV station, Gunma Television (Gunma Television), broadcasts it, which is a crying shame. However, it is also available on Animax and GYAO! The author, a native of Gunma, will delve into the details of such a super-local work with love.

This 12th episode is the final one. The title of the episode is "We Still Did Not Know Gumma," which is a very grandiose subtitle, but what does it really mean?

The story begins in a car heading to Mt. Myogi, one of the "Three Jomo Mountains " (see Episode 9 Thoughts). As already explained, the Three Jomo Mountains refer to the famous mountains (Akagi, Haruna, and Myogi) that represent the Gumma region, but Mt. Myogi has a distinctly different flavor from the other two. Akagi and Haruna are relatively new volcanoes, while Myogi is a rocky mountain of much older strata. While Akagi and Haruna have a beautifully shaped base, Mt. Myogi has a bizarre shape formed by craggy rocks and is one of the three most bizarre sights in Japan. Myogi Shrine, dedicated to the mountain, is said to be one of the most famous power spots in the prefecture.

Driving to the Myogi Shrine (with Nojiru as the driver), Kamizuki and his friends are on their way to the shrine. Perhaps because it is the last episode, their friend Todoroki, Kyo Shinooka, and Einan Ieshiro, a.k.a. Yeti, are all present. However, as they enter a mountain road and attempt to round a curve, they collide with a truck coming from the opposite direction. ......

For a moment, the group thought they were on their way to heaven, but it turns out to be a mistake on God's part. When asked where they had come from, they told him that they were on their way to Myogi Shrine and that they were from Gumma (that's half a lie, isn't it?). (That's half a lie, isn't it?). The group was then transported to a certain mountain. The group was puzzled, not knowing where they were. Kyo is frightened when a serpent-like creature appears. Todoroki, on the other hand, dismisses the creature , saying, "It's probably a snake that escaped from the Japan Snake Center. Hey, hey, hey! That's not good, is it?

Todoroki then realized that he was in the vicinity of Ota City. However, it seemed unusual, with bat people, not bats, flying in the sky above us. By the way, bats fly in large numbers in the evening in Gumma, so bats themselves are not at all unusual. Yes, I know.

So, as to where we are, the aforementioned god must surely have listened to the group and returned them to the relevant place. In other words, there was no doubt that the group was "Gunma people on their way to Myogi Shrine," but the destination to which they were sent was an asteroid named "Gunma. In fact, the "Myogi Shrine" and the asteroid named "Gunma" actually exist, and God definitely sent the group there. Well, this is quite a trivia. Hee hee hee! (old ......)

So, as fitting for the last episode, "We still didn't know Gumma! And that's the end of this story.

Incidentally, the DVD of this film will be released on July 27. The regular edition is priced at 1,980 yen (tax not included), and the "Gunma Edition," which will be available only in Gunma Prefecture, is priced at a whopping 980 yen (tax not included)! If you are a Gunma person, you should definitely purchase one for your family to increase your love for Gunma!

Thank you very much.
