Anime writers' picks of five notable summer 2018 anime! [Anime Column

According to Akiba Research Institute, there are 47 new anime titles for summer 2018. This time, we picked up five topical works based on comic books.
The spin-off of the hit manga "Chuenchu Kankeiroku Tonegawa," the cohabitation comedy "Jyakko-chan Dropkick" from "COMIC Meteor," the period action "Angolmore Genkou Gassenki" serialized in "ComicWalker," the anthropomorphic manga "Hataraku Cell" from "Monthly Shonen Sirius," the girls "Young Animal" junior high school comedy "Asobase"!

Chushin Kankeiroku Tonegawa

The spin-off of Nobuyuki Fukumoto's gambling manga "Gambling Revelation Kaiji" is finally getting an anime adaptation. The main character is Yukio Tonegawa, an executive of Teiai Group. In the original version, he had the aura of a tycoon, calling Kaiji and other debtors scum and lecturing them, but in this work, he is depicted as a small-town citizen suffering at the mercy of his superiors and subordinates. The characters are unintentionally moved by the selfishness of Chairman Hyodo, and by their difficulty in distinguishing between the black suits under their command.
Production continues to be handled by Madhouse, which worked on the "Kaiji" anime. The design, which emphasizes the outlines of the characters, has been retained, and fans of the anime will be able to enjoy it without any discomfort. The role of Tonegawa will be played by Tomoyuki Morikawa. How will Morikawa, who is also the president of a voice acting agency, portray the sadness of a middle management position? Masato Hagiwara, who plays Kaiji, has also been cast, and his scenes are also of interest.

Evil Girl Drop Kick

In this comedy, Evil God-chan, a demon from the demon world whose lower body is a snake and upper body is a gal, is summoned by a slightly black college girl, Yurine Hanazono, to live together under one roof. Since the summoner can return to the demon world if he dies, Evil God-chan tries to kill Yurine with a murderous dropkick, but he is always beaten back. ......
Yurine's punishment is quite extreme: her tail is chopped off with a machete and her whole body is minced with a chainsaw, etc. The summoning scene in the PV is depicted with a heavy touch that makes it look like an authentic fantasy, and the battle between the two will be a highlight. The cast also attracted attention for their unusual promotional activities, such as watching women's professional wrestling matches to study the real dropkick. Cute and violent at the same time, this is one of the hottest films of this summer!

Angolmore: The Battle of Tsushima

A historical epic in which a samurai from Kamakura, Kutsui Jinzaburo, is sent to Tsushima as a criminal and fights against the Mongolian invasion of Tsushima. It is rare for a historical anime to be set in the Kamakura period (1185-1333) rather than the Warring States period (1467-1568), and the story is based on the historical events of the Bun'ei no Yaku (1274). The great crimson armor worn by the warriors of the time, and the cavalry shooting bows on horseback, were carefully depicted in the film. The effect of Japanese paper on the screen is also a distinctive feature of the film, and adds to the historical atmosphere.
In the original story, bloody battles are shown, and there are many scenes that make us keenly aware of the horror of war. We look forward to seeing how far the TV anime will go in depicting the horror of war. Prior to the broadcast, an advance screening was held in Tsushima, where the story takes place. It is expected that viewers will be able to enjoy the flora, fauna, and landscape of Tsushima, which is rich in nature.

Hataraku Seibutsu

While all kinds of things in the world have been anthropomorphized, in this film, the cells in the human body are transformed into characters. The human body is a city, and we can glimpse the daily lives of a wide variety of cells, including the red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout the body. In particular, the white blood cell, which defeats bacteria, has an outstanding impact with its all-white hair and clothing. He is the one who says, "You germ! and exterminates germs with a dagger knife. The sight of his body turning bright red with his opponent's blood (?) gives the anime an atmosphere of a battle anime.
Of course, there is an element of a medical anime as well, and viewers can learn about the functions of cells they have heard of but are not familiar with, such as killer T cells and macrophages. The cast is made up of talented actors, with Kana Hanazawa as the red blood cells and Tomoaki Maeno as the white blood cells; you will enjoy the work even more if you have seen the special anime produced in 2017.

Asobi Asobase.

A girls' comedy about three junior high school girls who form a playful study group. The original work is attractive with its delicate and dainty pictures, but the main story is so surreal that it is hard to imagine from it. The story takes a tumultuous turn, with sudden changes to realistic drawings and extreme deformations. The facial expressions of the 100 faces are also shown in the animation.
Directed by Seiji Kishi of "Tentai Senshi Sun Red" and "Tsuki ga Kirei" fame. The film also uses the prescreening method, in which the voice actors' performances are recorded first, so it is likely that the audience will be able to see them interact with each other in perfect harmony. The main cast members, Hina Kino, Rika Nagae, and Yoshimi Obara, will also sing the opening and closing theme songs.
