Happy Sugar Life" countdown project starts with 8 days left until the start of OA! The cast's comments have also arrived!

Happy Sugar Life" is a very popular manga by Tomiyaki Kagisora, serialized in the monthly magazine "GANGAN JOKER", which has sold over 700,000 copies in total. It is a pure love story between the main characters, high school student Matsusaka Satou and Kobe Shio, but it also shows a bizarre side of psycho horror, and the gap between the cute visual and the horror has caused a huge reaction.
The TV anime, scheduled to start airing in July, is directed by Keizo Kusakawa of "Fleet of Armada" and "Kazatsu," directed by Nobuyoshi Nagayama of "My Girlfriend is Too Serious to be True," with series composition by Doko Maita of "DIVE! Ezo'la will be in charge of animation production.

───Could you tell us what you thought of the recording?

Hanazawa: The scenes where I make out with Shouko are really fun and happy and easy to play, but the rest of the scenes are very difficult to play. I am still reading the original story at home and thinking about how to make it better.

Kuno: Shio-chan is not just a pure girl, but she has a lot of things deep inside her.
I am always thinking about how I can express that while carefully performing the role.
It is a very challenging and enjoyable role to play.

Hanamori: I am simply amazed at the gap between Asahi and the outside world!
I don't see a single piece of "Happy Sugar Life" in Asahi's world...

Hanae Every week, everyone's performance really touches my heart.
I have a strange feeling of excitement about what is going to happen next, mixed with a sense of dread that maybe I shouldn't watch.
I myself am a very challenging character, and there are many difficult scenes,
I can't wait to see the on-air performance of the film, and I'm sure I'm being involved in an extraordinary work.

Suzaki: In every scene, I really feel that Satou is acting the way he does because he genuinely feels that way.
Kana Hanazawa's acting is so convincing. I was drawn in during the postrecording.

─ What is your impression of this work?

Hanazawa: The characters have a perfect balance of cuteness and eeriness that is addictive. To be honest, they are all people I would hate to be around. Scary! (Laughs)
I was fascinated by the story, which I couldn't read how it was going to unfold.

Kuno: I feel that by going deeper and deeper into the everyday emotions that we have all experienced, we can understand the emotions and thought processes of the characters.
I think it is a wonderful work that allows you to confront your own past and present feelings.

Suzaki: I read the book in one sitting when I was auditioning.
It took me a while to switch between the two, because the way it took my soul was not half as good as it could have been.

──Do you have any personal impressions or interesting episodes during the recording?

Hanamori: It has nothing to do with the story, but during the recording, the seating order was Mr. Hanazawa, Hanamori, and Hanae, in that order, and there was a flower garden zone.

Hanae: In playing the sun, I was often directed to "make him feel worse," and I did my best to amplify the intensity of his feelings.

─ ─ Do you have a message for the fans who are looking forward to "Happy Sugar Life"?

Hanazawa I'm sure you will look forward to it every week because you are so anxious to see what happens next!

Kuno I will give my all to play Shideo, so please give me your best!
