BORDER BREAK" exhibited 1/1 plastic model runners at Metro Promenade in Shinjuku! Giant parts cutting event!

To commemorate the release of "BORDER BREAK" for PS4 on August 2 (Thu.), Sega has launched the "BORDER BREAK" 1/1 plastic model project, with a full-size plastic model runner on display at the Shinjuku Metro Promenade until July 8 (Fri.).

BORDER BREAK" is a high-speed robot team battle game that will be released for the long-awaited PS4 version on August 2 (Thursday).

The "BORDER BREAK" 1/1 plastic model project aims to complete a full-scale plastic model of "BORDER BREAK" in time for the completion of the PS4 version. The full-scale plastic model will be completely supervised by Kotobukiya Corporation, a major plastic model manufacturer and distributor. This is the dream project that all game fans and robot fans have been waiting for, to build the largest (*1) plastic model (*2) in the history of the game.

And today, July 4 (Wed.), a "parts cutting event" for the media was held! In this article, we will report on this very exciting event, in which a dedicated "BORDER BREAK" assembler used two-handed nippers to cut out giant parts from the largest runner in history, as well as a mini interview with "BORDER BREAK" producer Moriharu Aoki.

1/1 plastic model runner display and "parts cutting event

Mini interview with Moriji Aoki, producer of "BORDER BREAK

1. what are your honest impressions of the huge runner?
It is very powerful, isn't it? The moment you can feel the real size of the things you have seen in the game...it's unbelievable (laughs). (Laughs). Hands, in particular, are easy to compare with human hands, so I hope people who come to the show will be able to experience how big a blast runner's hands are. I would like visitors to experience how big Blast Runner's hands are.

2. what points were you particular about in creating and displaying the 1/1 plastic models?
There are many parts of the 1/1 plastic model other than the ones displayed here, but I had a hard time deciding which parts to display. We decided that we wanted parts that would give a sense of "BORDER BREAK," so we chose parts such as hands, tires, and guns. We were particular about "making it thoroughly realistic. This 1/1 plastic model will be painted just like any other plastic model, so we wanted to put a lot of effort into making it "realistic". The completed 1/1 plastic model will be displayed somewhere in Tokyo in time for the release of the PS4 version of "BORDER BREAK", so we hope everyone will have a chance to see it.

3. What are the highlights of the PS4 version of "BORDER BREAK"?
One of the differences from the arcade version is the inclusion of a "Story Mode". The arcade version is not the kind of game where you can take your time to enjoy the story in a cultural or environmental context, so we hope that the PS4 version will allow you to take your time and enjoy the world and the story. We would also be happy if you could take your time practicing at home and then go to the arcade to play against other players or make your arcade debut.

4. Finally, do you have a message for your fans?
As stated on the advertisement in the exhibition space, the game is basically free and can be downloaded for free, and you don't even need to be a PS Plus member (*3) to play, so we hope you'll give it a try first.

BORDER BREAK" 1/1 Plastic Model Project Overview
The long-awaited full-fledged robot action game from SEGA.
An unprecedented project to assemble a 1/1 giant robot, the largest plastic model in history, is now underway.
The model for the modeling is the Blast Runner "Kisei Sorashiki" from the PS4 version of "BORDER BREAK". According to Kotobukiya Corporation, which plans, manufactures, and sells plastic models and figures, this sculpture will be the largest plastic model ever made.

On the occasion of this launch, a project movie was also released. The movie shows scenes from Sega's development room and factory floor. In the former, the designers are shown seriously sculpting the robots, and in the latter, the craftsmen at the factory are shown creating the parts one by one. Both sides are stoically engaged in manufacturing. The overlapping images symbolize Japan's manufacturing culture. In the last part of the film, what they are manufacturing is revealed. Lying in front of us is unmistakably a 1/1 plastic model runner of a giant robot.

The video is directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Yusuke Ishida, who has garnered attention for his work on the music video "SSW" by the hot young band D.A.N.

The largest plastic model runner in history will appear at Shinjuku Station from July 2 (Mon.) to 8 (Sun.).

<Comment from Kotobukiya Corporation
Kotobukiya Corporation is pleased to have supervised the "1/1 Plastic Model Project" for the PS4 version of "BORDER BREAK". The full-scale plastic model we produced this time is the largest plastic model in Kotobukiya's history.
We hope you will take note of the overwhelming power of the model as well as the level of detail reproduced.
The "Blast Runner," the main character in the battles of "BORDER BREAK," was designed with industrial elements of modern weapons and heavy machinery in mind.
The "waist booster" and "toe wheels," as well as the "mounter," a device for switching weapons, are all unique elements that will tickle the hearts of boys.
In this project, the detailed mechanics are elaborately reproduced by finishing each part with styrene resin material, etc.
The parts shown will be actually detached and assembled. Please look forward to the completion of the largest 1/1 plastic model in history.
This blast runner "Kisei/Sorashiki" may not fit in your room in 1/1 scale, so we will also commercialize it in a more affordable size.
We will also aim to keep the details as they are in 1/1 scale, so please look forward to it!
