Sonic Mania Plus," a 2D high-speed action game for PlayStation®4/Nintendo Switch™, is scheduled for release on July 19 (Thursday) from Sega Games.

Akiba Research Institute is currently running a giveaway campaign for two lucky winners to win a Nintendo Switch™ version of this title.

Sonic Mania" is the latest title in the Sonic 2D Classic series, which was released in August 2017 as a download-only distribution software. It includes stages selected from the Mega Drive version of "Sonic the Hedgehog," the series' origin story, as well as "Sonic the Hedgehog 2," "Sonic the Hedgehog 3," "Sonic & Knuckles" and "Sonic CD," with all new gimmicks!　In addition, there are completely new stages only in this title, and each of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles has its own unique action, allowing players to enjoy a nostalgic yet completely new 2D side-scrolling action game.

The packaged version, "Sonic Mania Plus," includes new characters, new modes, and other attractive elements, as well as a soundtrack and art book as enclosed extras, making it a must-have for Sonic fans.

The game also includes new characters "Mighty" and "Ray" and a new Encore Mode!
From the 1993 arcade game "Sega Sonic the Hedgehog" comes "Mighty" the armadillo and "Ray" the flying squirrel. In "Encore Mode," in which these two characters, whose actions differ from those of Sonic and his friends, play an active role, you can enjoy a stage experience with a different color palette and gimmicks from the original version, as well as new episodes. In addition, the "Battle Mode" can be played by up to four players, and various other new elements that were not included in the downloadable version have been incorporated.

In addition to the game software, this title includes the "Sonic Mania Plus" original soundtrack CD (54 tracks on 2 discs) and an art book (36 pages). The large CDs include not only in-game music, but also music by the sound unit "Hyper Potions," which has provided promotional music for the game, and music created in collaboration with Jun Segami, sound director of the Sonic series, and Hyper Potions!　In addition, the jacket of each package is reversible, with a nostalgic Mega Drive-style design on the reverse side.
