The "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" panel sponsored by Viz Media, which attracts enthusiastic fans every year, was held again this year at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, USA, with 3,400 North American JoJo fans gathered in the event's largest hall.
The panel was led by Urian Brown of Viz Media, the former editor in charge of the English-language edition of the original "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" comics, and David Brother, the current editor in charge of the comics, also of Viz Media.
First, a video message from Hirohiko Araki, the author of the original manga, was shown in preparation for the "Hirohiko Araki Original Art Exhibition JOJO: Ripples of Adventure" at the National Art Center, Tokyo, followed by an introduction of the goods and purchase benefits available in North America.
Next, the announcement of the North American release of the live-action feature film "JOJO Live Action Diamonds Are Unbreakable Chapter 1" was followed by loud cheers from the audience.
Then it was on to the guest corner. As the audience warmed up, Mr. Naokatsu Tsuda, the director of the previous anime series and the general director of the latest "Golden Wind," appeared as a guest from Japan.
Mr. Tsuda took the stage and said, "I was surprised to see so many people. I'm filled with a lot of joy. I hope you can enjoy the event with me today, so please give me your best wishes.
The first question was, "Tell us about a typical day as a director. What exactly do you do? He answered, "I go to bed in the morning, get up at noon, work, go home, and go to bed.
I watch anime in my free time," he replied, to laughter from the fans in the audience.
The next question was, "Both the opening and ending of Jojo are very gorgeous. Can you tell us about the background behind the creation of such a strong impression?" to whichhe replied, "The opening is a 'premonition'. " and I think the ending is "lingering", so when I saw the opening, I thought, "It's starting! I try to make theaudiencefeel "It's starting!" at the opening, and "It's over..." at the ending. The next question was "Which is your favorite stand? Also, if you could use your abilities when creating an anime, which stand would you use?" The next question was, "Which stand do you like the most?
As for his favorite stand, he answered without hesitation, the Gold Experience from Part 5. As for the stand he would like to use, he answered Heaven's Door, which helps him draw storyboards, eliciting laughter from fans.
In response to a question about the music, "Do you consult with Hirohiko Araki about the music to be used in the film?" he replied, "Especially the ending. He answered, "The ending music, in particular, was chosen from the Western music that Mr. Araki listened to when he was writing the book.
"What is your favorite song?" Mr. Urian asked the audience, "What is your favorite song?" and a variety of song names came up, but by far the most popular was "Roundabout" by yes, which was used as the ending to Part 1 and Part 2 and became a revival hit.
Mr. Tsuda also commented, "There were many people in Japan who had never heard of 'Roundabout' before Jojo was broadcast. I think even those who knew it wondered why "Roundabout" was being used now. When asked what his favorite song was, he replied, "Last Train Home" by the Pat Metheny Group, saying, "It makes you cry, doesn't it?
The next question was about the method of expression of the animation, "The cartoon-like sound effects are distinctive, how did you come up with this idea?"When asked," How did you come up with this idea? ", Mr. Tsuda replied, "I brought the manga expression as it is. In a normal anime, people would say, "Why are there letters when there is sound?" but this work is completed by depicting sound with letters, so itwas indispensable if we wanted to express the original work in anime," he replied.
In closing the interview corner with Tsuda, he talked about Part 5, "The Golden Wind," saying, "This is one of the heaviest themes in JoJo so far. I hope you can run through it with me," commentedMr. Urian, who thenannounced that Viz Media would be distributing Part 5, "The Golden Wind" in North America.
After the interview corner with Tsuda, three voice actors of the North American version, Patrick as Dio, Christopher as Abdul, and Billy as Josuke Higashi, joined the talk and a cosplay contest by the public, etc., and then the much-anticipated "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: The Golden Wind" The first episode of "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: The Golden Wind" was screened on the big screen. The audience cheered loudly when the images were shown on the big screen, and the US premiere began, following the international premiere in France. North American fans cheered and nearly screamed at the every move of the characters in the anime. When the screening was over, the audience applauded loudly, and the Viz Media "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" panel and US premiere ended with a great success, leaving a lingering sense of excitement.
