Switch's "Daijin Zekkei Version" introduces characters & episodes inspired by Satomi Hakkenden and Hanasakaji-san!
Capcom has revealed the unique characters and their episodes that color the world of "Daishin" from "Daishin: The Great Gods of the North" for Nintendo Switch, which will be released on August 9, 2018 (Thursday).
The HD remastered version of "Okami: The Great Gods" is a remastered version of "Okami: The Great Gods" originally released for the PS2 in 2006, with higher resolution graphics and various new elements added. Set in a world of nostalgic and fantastic landscapes reminiscent of ancient Japan, the main character, the white wolf "Amaterasu," sets out on a journey to defeat the monster "Yamata-no-orochi," which has awakened from a 100-year sleep.
The game features Amaterasu's "Brush Shirabe" ability, which allows her to perform various miracles by running her brush, as well as the "three divine weapons" of the "mirror," "gadama" and "sword. The Nintendo Switch version of the game supports "Brush Shirabe" operations by drawing directly on the touch screen or by gyro control using the Joy-Con. This allows for more intuitive play.
Three characters and episodes inspired by "Satomi Hakkenden" and "Hanasaka Gozan" have been revealed! Check out how they will play an active role in the story of "Ookami".
◆Hime Fuse and Satomi Hakkenden
The motif of Fusehime and the Hakkenshi is "Satomi Hakkenden". Fusehime is depicted as a mother figure to the Hakkenshi. In addition, the Hakkenshi are eight young men born in various regions, each with the surname "Inu" (dog), who, as if guided by fate, gather and play an active role in the Satomi family.
The eight dogmen, who were scattered all over the country, are called upon to save the village of Kusanagi, which has become dark and stagnant because the wind has stopped blowing due to the "Red Kabuto," a monster that haunts the Wind God Temple.
The Satomi Eight Treasures, the heirlooms of the Satomi family, are possessed by each of the Hakkenshi. Each of the eight dogs possesses one of the following eight treasures: benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, loyalty, faith, filial piety, and diety. When the power of these jewels is gathered, it is said that they can break the boundary of the red rhinoceros beetle.
◆Yatsufusa
Yatsufusa is a spirit bound to the ground at the entrance of the Wind God's Palace.
He has lost his sight, but can see people's true form with his mind's eye and can tell Amaterasu's true form.
It seems that he has something to do with the Kazakami Palace and the Satomi family.
In "Satomi Hakkenden," Fusehime adores Hachibo, the dog owned by the Satomi family. It is said to have been so named because of the eight peony flower-like spots on its body.
When Amaterasu and her family go to the Wind God's Palace to recover it from the hands of demons, Yatsufusa gives them advice. He has become a spirit bound to the earth, but will there ever be a time when he can be reborn...?
Hanasaka Ji
Hanasaka-aji is an old man who lives in a commoner's town in Xianjing.
He takes care of the rows of cherry trees in Xianjing, but some of them have been cursed and are dying. He has mastered "Tsubakikagura," a flower master's exquisite technique, and is said to be able to make the cherry trees bloom with his skill....
He is a kind-hearted old man whose motif comes from the old tale "Hanasaka Gramps. He sprinkled a certain ash on a dead tree to make it bloom, and the cherry blossoms came into full bloom.
The cherry trees that had withered because of the grudge spirits could not be revived even with the power of Amaterasu's brush-writing "sakura bana" (cherry blossom). If we can make other cherry trees bloom with "sakurahana," the power of Hanasakaji will be restored and we can revive cherry trees all over the city. Let's cooperate!
