A life-size blast runner was also on display! Report on the completion unveiling of "BORDER BREAK" for PS4

Sega Interactive held a completion party for "BORDER BREAK" for PS4, which will be released on August 2, at Bellesalle Akihabara (Akihabara, Tokyo).

BORDER BREAK" is a 10vs10 network battle game that has been supported by many players since it first appeared as an arcade game in 2009. Players control Blast Runners (robots) and aim to destroy "cores" located in enemy bases while competing for "plants," which serve as launching bases. The Blast Runner can be equipped with four parts (head, torso, arms, and legs) and four weapons for each armament. Depending on the customization, the Blast Runner can be given a variety of personalities, allowing for deep battles to be enjoyed.

The PS4 version of "BORDER BREAK," which is scheduled to begin service tomorrow, August 2 (Thursday) at midnight, will be free-to-play (with some items charged) so that as many people as possible can play. During gameplay, the game is completely free with no stamina or time-based billing, allowing players to play whenever they want, 24 hours a day. In addition to "Story Mode," a single player mode that allows players to enjoy the world in depth, there are also "Beginner Match," "Casual Match," and "Rank Match" modes that allow players to enjoy battles according to their level, making the game fun for beginners and advanced players alike.


At the completion unveiling of the PS4 version of "BORDER BREAK" held today, August 1 (Wed.) at Bellesalle Akihabara, Yukio Sugino, President and CEO of Sega Interactive, took the stage first.

Mr. Sugino, who arrived at the venue around 11:00 a.m. today, referred to the message board set up at the venue. This message board is a collection of messages from users who have sent us many moving and memorable messages over the past nine years. When I saw this message board, I was moved even though I am not old enough to understand it (laughs). One of the messages was "9 years since then, 9 years from now," and tomorrow will be the beginning of "9 years from now. The PS4 version of "BORDER BREAK" is a free-to-play title, so I hope that those who have not yet played "BORDER BREAK" will take this opportunity to play it and be moved by the game. The 1/1 plastic model that was on display at Shinjuku Station will also be unveiled, and I hope you will enjoy it as well.


Following Mr. Sugino on stage was Mr. Moriji Aoki, producer of the "BORDER BREAK" series. Mr. Aoki said, "Thank you very much for your patience. Tomorrow, August 2, we will finally release "BORDER BREAK" for PS4. BORDER BREAK" has been in operation for about 9 years, and now it will finally be able to leave the arcades and be played at home. It has been a very long road to this point, but thanks to the enthusiastic support of our players and fans, we have been able to release the PS4 version. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you. Thank you very much. Also, today is the grand finale of the "BORDER BREAK" 1/1 plastic model project to build a life-size Blast Runner, and we would like to unveil the completed model for the first time in front of everyone," he said, expressing his joy at the release of the PS4 version and completion of the 1/1 plastic model.


Next, he showed a How To video of the PS4 version of "BORDER BREAK," "Let's get started! BORDER BREAK", and five guests took the stage: voice actors Kanako Takatsuki, Maruka Asahina, and TV personality Ami Maejima, as well as official cosplayers Koyomi and KANAME★. The topic then turned to the "BORDER BREAK" 1/1 plastic model project, and the latest PV of the project was shown.



Aoki explained the genesis of this project, "Ever since the arcade version of the game was released, I have wanted to one day make a full-scale model of the Blast Runner that appears in the game, but I was never able to make it happen. This time around, we consulted with all parties involved to see if we could somehow make it happen at the right time for the PS4 version to be released, and we started the project about a year and a half ago. The Blast Runner is 5 meters tall, but you don't often have a chance to see it in the city, so I hope you will experience the 1/1 scale Blast Runner today," he said, and finally the first unveiling of the 1/1 scale Blast Runner took place.

Atsushi Morita, President of Japan Asia Region Office, Director of Sony Interactive Entertainment, took the stage as a special guest at the unveiling ceremony, and the countdown began at 30 seconds!　The curtain fell with the call of 3, 2, 1, and finally the 1/1 scale blast runner "Shining Star, Sorashiki" was unveiled to the public!　The audience cheered to see the life-size blast runner "Terusei Kukeshiki," which was 5 meters tall and had been realistically reproduced down to the smallest detail, including paint peeling off and scratches from the battle.



The 1/1 scale blast runner "Teruboshi Kuushiki" will be on display at Bellsalle Akihabara until tomorrow, August 2 (Thursday), so be sure to visit the exhibition hall.
