Hinomaru Sumo" will air on October 5! Theme song artist also announced!

The first broadcast of the TV anime "Hinomaru Sumo" has been set for October 5, 2018.

The manga "Hinomaru Sumo" (original story by Kawada; comics volumes 1-19 currently on sale), currently serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (published by Shueisha), is an exciting coming-of-age fighting romance filled with "friendship," "effort," and "victory" of men who pursue their dreams of becoming high school wrestlers. Sumo is an ancient Japanese martial art and one of the few non-discriminatory fighting sports in which those who are "big" and "heavy" are said to have absolute dominance. In the world of high school sumo, where wrestlers of exceptional physique and talent are called "national treasures," the small protagonist Hinomaru Ushio, as the "national treasure Onimaru Kunitsuna," fiercely fights with his friends from a weak sumo club to become the "Yokozuna," the top of the sumo world.

The TV anime will be directed by Kounosuke Uda of "DAYS", directed by Yasutaka Yamamoto of "Actually I Am", with character design by Norie Tanaka of "Bless This Wonderful World!

The first broadcast will be on October 5 at 22:00~ on TOKYO MX, followed by BS11 (October 5 at 23:30~), Suntelevi (October 5 at 23:30~), TVQ Kyushu Broadcasting (October 5 at 25:58~), and TV Aichi (October 6 at 26:50~). It will also be distributed online on AbemaTV from 10:00 p.m. on October 5.

The theme song artist has also been released. The opening theme song will be sung by "Official Bearded Man dism," a piano pop band from San'in, and the ending theme song will be sung by the five-member rock band "Omedetai-head de Nayore" (Omedetai-head de Nayore).
