TGS2020】SQUARE ENIX "Nier TGS2020 Special Report: There's Some New Information" Report. New "NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139..." will be released on April 22!

On Thursday, September 24, 2020, Tokyo Game Show 2020 ONLINE ("TGS2020") opened. Unlike previous years, this was not an offline event, but rather an online program. The event was held for four days from Thursday, September 24 to Sunday, September 27.

The second company to appear on the first day's official program broadcast was Square Enix. Speaking of Square Enix, the latest numbered title "Final Fantasy XVI" (Final Fantasy 16) was unveiled at the official launch event of "PS5" just a few days ago, but this was not mentioned at the "TGS2020" event. The program was limited to the latest information on the cult favorite action RPG series "NieR (NieR)".

Hiroki Yasumoto, voice actor playing the role of "The Book of White," served as MC.

Creative director of the "NieR" series, Mr. Tarou Yokowo

The first topic introduced was "NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139...". topic. This title is a completely renewed version of the PS3 title "NieR Replicant" released in April 2010 for the latest hardware (PS4/Xbox One/Steam), and its release date was announced during the program. It will be released on April 22, 2011 (Steam only on April 24), exactly 11 years after the release of the original work. Pre-orders are being accepted starting today.

In the program, comments from the four voice actors (Nobuhiko Okamoto, Ryoko Shiraishi, Mai Kadowaki, and Ai Nonaka) who voiced the characters in the original story 11 years ago were introduced, and Director Ito showed a demo play of the game. Information on the special edition "White Snow Edtition" that will be released at the same time, as well as store purchase bonuses, was also revealed.

Next, information on "NieR Re[in]carnation," the first title in the series for smartphones, was introduced. Pre-registration for this title began today, and although actual demo play screens were presented, few details were revealed. However, it seems that the game will follow the "NieR" series' unique style of mystery upon mystery.

Lastly, Mr. Taura, director of Platinum Games' "NieR: AutoMata," which is currently on sale to rave reviews, appeared on stage. He informed the audience that the game has shipped a total of 4.85 million units and introduced the elaborately crafted realistic figures (statues). Since they are quite heavy, they are likely to be priced accordingly, but fans will want to pay attention to them. In addition to this, the program was full of information about the "NieR" series, including a video showing the audience-free soundtrack concert of this work held this year and an announcement of the stage play "Shojo Yoruha" (Girl Yoruha).
