TGS2020】Microsoft "Xbox Showcase 2020" Report. The report includes the announcement of DLC for Japan for "MFS2020", the development of cloud game services for Japan, and the unveiling of a new title for the "Xbox Series X/S"!
On Thursday, September 24, 2020, Tokyo Game Show 2020 ONLINE ("TGS2020") opened. Unlike previous years, this was not an offline event, but rather an online program. The event was held for four days from Thursday, September 24 to Sunday, September 27.
The first official program broadcast on the first day was by Microsoft Japan, which is currently in the midst of a hot topic with its next-generation hardware "Xbox Series X/S," which will go on sale on November 10, but there was no new information on this new hardware this time, according to a preliminary announcement.
At the beginning of the event, a speech by Phil Spencer, Executive Vice President of Gaming at Microsoft, was played. In his speech, Mr. Spencer expressed his respect for the Japanese market, saying that the Japanese market is the fastest growing region for Xbox and that many creators are involved in the development of Xbox games in Japan. During his speech, Spencer also announced plans to launch a cloud-based gaming service in Japan in the first half of 2021.
The next topic was the Microsoft Flight Simulaotor, which was recently released and is creating a buzz for its realism. Director Jorg Newman said that a large-scale DLC will be released on September 29, and that the data will be terrain and buildings from all over Japan. This DLC will include six additional Japanese terrain data and six new airports with detailed data. This will allow users to experience flight while viewing beautiful landscapes throughout Japan.
After a demonstration of "MineCraft," which is gaining momentum worldwide, the final stage of the event finally turned to the latest hardware, the Xbox Series X/S. Here, Square Enix will be presenting its newest hardware, the "Xbox Series X/S." Video messages from Japanese game developers such as Square Enix, Capcom, Sega, Namco Bandai, Koei Tecmo, and SNK were shown, expressing their expectations for the new hardware. In addition, actual play videos of "SAMURAI SPIRITS" (SNK), "BIO HAZARD VILLAGE" (Capcom), "PRAGMATA" (Capcom), and "Puyo Puyo Tetris 2" (Sega) were shown, indicating that many game titles will be available for the Japanese market as well.
