Finally, the last run! Details of the "Mobile Police Patlabor 30th Anniversary [OVA-Geki Pato 1 Exhibition] Niigata" exhibition announced! Akiba Research Institute exclusive, Yoshiko Sakakibara's comment is now available!

From October 10 (Sat) to November 14 (Sun), 2020, Niigata City Manga & Anime Information Center will hold a special exhibition "Mobile Police Patlabor 30th Anniversary "OVA-Geki Patlabor 1 Exhibition" CELEBRATING HEADGEAR 30 YEARS ANNIVERSARY featuring OVA-. The "OVA-Geki PATLABOR THE MOVIE" exhibition, which began in the summer of 2019, will be held for the last time at this exhibition. Yoshiko Sakakibara, who plays Shinobu Nagumo, has commented exclusively to Akiba Research Institute.

The exhibition commemorates the 30th anniversary of Mobile Police Patlabor and will continue from Osaka ATC in August 2019.
The "OVA-Geki Patlabor 1 Exhibition" has been held at Osaka Nanko ATC last summer, Yurakucho Marui and Ikebukuro Marui at the end and beginning of the year, and Nagoya Parco in February, and will finally be held at the Niigata exhibition for the last time. The Niigata exhibition will be the last to be held.

The Niigata exhibition, like the previous "OVA-Geki Patlabor 1 Exhibition," will display valuable materials from the early days of the "Mobile Police Patlabor Patlabor" series, including existing production materials, rough sketches of character and mechanical settings, original drawings, background art, illustrations, and cover illustrations for the manga version of the series. The last exhibition of the series will be held at the exhibition hall.

The AR commentary, which allows visitors to listen to comments from Mina Tominaga, who plays Akira Izumino, by scanning the QR code with a smartphone, which has become a familiar feature of the Patlabor exhibition, has been newly recorded by Yoshiko Sakakibara, who plays Captain Nagumo, to further enhance the exhibition.

In conjunction with the exhibition, we have received a comment from Ms. Ryoko Sakakibara, who plays Shinobu Nagumo, exclusively from Akiba Research Institute, which we will introduce here.

Comment from Ryoko Sakakibara, who plays Shinobu Nagumo

I remember I recorded a video commentary for Patlabor before.

It was a studio recording. At that time, Ryusuke Obayashi, who played Kiichi Goto, was the MC.

More than 10 years later, for the Niigata exhibition, I decided to do the interview not in writing, but in voice.

Mr. Naito-san, who was in charge of this project, has been my friend since Movie 1. I remember being interviewed in the lobby of the TV Center studio in Hamamachi at the time.

What was deeply moving to me more than 30 years later was the completely different performance of the recording equipment.

Back then, the interviews were conducted on cassette tapes, but this time, linear recorders were used.

Mr. Naito was operating a "TASCAM. I also have this capable recorder in case you are interested.

It is Sony. I have not mastered using it yet....

Even with such a small thing, you can clearly feel the change of the times, but more than 30 years ago, Patlabor had a lot of technology that was looking ahead to the present. Movie1 in particular is a symbol of this.

Somehow, I knew that one day we would be in that era, but today, although we don't have giant Reavers, I have this feeling that the evolved machines, etc. were already depicted in Patlabor 30 years ago.

But humans have never been AI yet!

Patlabor is a work primarily driven by "humans". The many characters with a human touch make the future, which tends to focus only on machines, stay there and depict "human beings".

I love this work. I love this film because "human beings" are definitely present in it.

In the interview, I talked about my memories with the cast members.

For those of you who will be visiting the Niigata exhibition, this is a poor narration, but I spoke with an awareness of "human beings" in mind.

I would be truly honored if you could savor and enjoy this "Human Patreon.

I also talk a little bit in-depth with Mr. Naito's skillful guidance. Please listen to it.

I am very happy that you are a fan of "PATLABOR.

Thank you. Thank you!

Yoshiko Sakakibara
