The Leather of the Wild Boar and Deer" by Taro Mukasa (Crayfish Works), 200 yen

At last, at long last, a local capsule toy!

While we often come across limited edition gacha at local souvenir shops, the one we are introducing here is limited to "Fujino Ekimae Portrade," a community space and general store located in front of JR Fujino Station in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture! I asked Mr. Arita, the editor in charge of this column, to go out of his way to buy one.

So, here we are, opening the capsule.

Inside was a paper showing Ryo and Ritsuko Ichihara, a couple from "Rokuhosha," a company that manufactures animal leather products in addition to farming. The message is intended to encourage people to think about the social problem of "harm caused by animals" as something close to home. And a "Beware of Animals" sticker. In addition, there is a piece of real boar or deer leather.

The scent of the leather is very nice! The warning "Due to the nature of the product, mold and dirt may be noticeable" is understandable.

This project was the brainchild of Taro Mukasa of "Crayfish Works," a company that has been recognized both inside and outside the industry for its creative lineup. After moving to Fujino several years ago, Mr. Takekasa decided he wanted to do a gacha using local products and started the "Local Products Gacha" series. This product is the second in the series, following the first "Charcoal Gacha Gacha" by the Shinohara no Sato Charcoal Making Club.

Speaking of Crayfish Works, their recent collaboration product with TAMA-KYU, "Blunt Objects," was also a hit. This is a vinyl toy that you inflate with air, and it is quite wonderful, creating a full-size crowbar or something like that! It is a silly item that has no practical use, and it doesn't hurt when someone hits it, so it caused a stir in the world.

Now, let's proceed from here while studying leather with the enclosed mini-book.

The "control holes" that contain information for making leather products, and "bullet marks" made during hunting. Clip marks" made during processing. The capsule contains scraps from the manufacturing process and parts that cannot be used for normal products, such as wrinkle marks on the neck and belly, which move a lot, and scraps from the belly.

Wild boar skin

Boar skin is light, soft, resistant to friction, and breathable. It is often compared to pigs, but the number of pigs farmed is extremely small and its distribution is limited, so it tends to be more expensive.

Deerskin

Deerskin is also soft and pleasant to the touch, and because it contains plenty of collagen, it has excellent water resistance and breathability. It also encapsulates the rough skin and scars characteristic of wild animals (stags are prone to them due to their rough temperament).

Boar and deer leather is the perfect material. It is extremely durable, and the more you use it, the more deeply colored it will become. It may even be used as an application cloth for leather products. The examples of use are endless.

This time, it's a "grave"! Yes, it's a tomb in a capsule.

The capsule is made of polyresin, a material similar to stone, and is a bit chunky. You don't have to go this far to see it at .......

This gravestone is a nonsense and goofy item that is full of nonsense, as it is engraved not with a person's name, but with something that should not be lost (or deceased)....... I'm getting scared to visit this grave, but there's no turning back now ...... nam~.
