Mr. Tomita was born on February 4, 1936. After working as a stage actor, he made his debut as a voice actor in "Astro Boy (the first animated film)" in 1963. Since then, he has played the role of the bearded old man in most of Osamu Tezuka's works.
In addition, he has been active as a supporting player since the dawn of anime, playing many characters such as Chief Otsuka in "Tetsujin 28 (the first film)," Sniff in "Moomin (the first film)," Dr. Hell in "Mazinger Z," and Dr. Saotome in "Getter Robot.
In addition, he also played the main character Doraemon in the 1973 Nittele version of "Doraemon" and Papa in the 1990 broadcast of "Heisei Tensai Bakabon," among other tasteful main characters.
In recent years, he had taken over the role of Jirokichi Suzuki in "Detective Conan" from Ichiro Nagai, who had passed away since 2014.
