What is the "25th Anniversary Rurouni Kenshin Exhibition"?
During the turbulent transition from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji era, the main character Himura Kenshin swore an oath to "never kill" and continued his wandering journey with a reverse-blade sword in his hand. His struggle against his past as a manslayer, despite his doubts and troubles, made a vivid impression on readers at the time as a new image of the hero that differed from the heroes of previous shōnen manga. In "Rurouni Kenshin," the universal theme of life, which is no different from the way people live today, is depicted: the struggle to hold on to one's beliefs and the search for happiness in the midst of drastic changes in the values of the world, even while struggling with the changing times.
The "Rurouni Kenshin" exhibition was planned to reflect on this story and pass it on to the next generation in this time of transition from the Heisei Era to the 2025 Era. The exhibition will feature an unprecedented scale of handwritten manuscripts and original color drawings depicting Kenshin and other fascinating characters as they search for their own way of life and follow their convictions. The exhibition also introduces the "Hokkaido Arc," a sequel to the current serialization, and works that have been developed into media mixes.

A special exhibition of original drawings "Swordfighting" and Kenshin's favorite sword "Shinrai," a reverse-blade sword, will also be on display!
A special exhibit not to be missed at this exhibition is a pair of paintings titled "Kendo Zu" (Swordfighting Drawings), specially drawn by the author Nobuhiro Watsuki for this exhibition 23 years after the conclusion of the "Kyoto Arc" serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump".
The original paintings depict the battle between Kenshin Himura and Makoto Shishio with the artist's unique and dynamic brushstrokes. At the exhibition, the original painting will be surrounded by an image of a blazing fire, creating a space where memories of the fierce battle will come back to life.
Also on special display will be Kenshin's favorite sword, "Sakabatou Shinuchi," which was made into an actual sword by the uninspected swordsmith Ogawa Kanekuni of Seki, Gifu Prefecture, based on his work (on display from February 11 (Thu., holiday)).
