Snickers and "Dr. Stone" collaborate! Kusanagi Miyashita's Kusanagi makes his first anime appearance, but not by any chance, petrified⁉

A collaboration project between the popular chocolate bar brand "Snickers" and the TV anime "Dr. Stone," originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, started on October 5.

In this campaign, a web commercial featuring "Dr. Stone" protagonist Chisora Ishigami (CV: Yusuke Kobayashi) rescuing petrified Koki Kusanagi of Miyashita Kusanagi with Snickers was released on Twitter and YouTube. The animation depicts Mr. Kusanagi's resurrection from petrification by Snickers, which Chisora puts in his mouth, and Mr. Kusanagi's negative but unstoppable Snickers.

In addition, at the same time as the release of the web commercial, a quiz campaign "#Challenge letter from Senku" was conducted on the official Twitter to guess a quiz related to Snickers, which is inspired by the world view of "D r.STONE," which creates all kinds of things by making full use of science. From among those who answer correctly, 40,000 Snickers vouchers will be drawn, and 100 people will have a chance to win limited-edition goods drawn by "Dr. STON E".

The world of stone (Stone World) where thousands of years have passed since all mankind was petrified. To their surprise, Kusanagi of the comedy duo "Miyashita Kusanagi" was also petrified with his head in his hands!
Senku, a genius science boy who is trying to restore civilization with the power of science, finds a stone statue of Kusanagi on his way by. There, Senku puts a Snickers in his mouth and awakens his instincts to rescue him.
Despite Senku's commentary, Kusanagi still says, "Wow, what if it's a trap...? But he continues to devour the first Snickers he has had in thousands of years...

Comment from Koki Kusanagi (original in Japanese)

Q: How do you feel about the challenge of doing your voice for this project?
A: This was my first experience working only with voice, and I was extremely nervous! I just listened to everything the sound director said and tried to do exactly what he told me to do, without any of my own ideas.


Q: (You said you like sweets.) Do you like sweets like Snickers?
A: I eat a lot of Snickers! I also like minis. I like the feeling of the texture when you bite into it, and I like the way it goes right into your teeth. I also eat them when I'm making a story or when it's late at night and I need to work hard.


Q: In this commercial, Mr. Kusanagi's "instinct" is awakened and he can't stop eating Snickers.
A: When I get nervous, I walk around.... During this recording session, I walked around a few times. I walk to calm myself down.... I don't know if it's instinctive or not, but after a failure at work, I eat something that gives me energy and a lot of flavor.

Q: Congratulations on your recent 29th birthday on August 23! What are your aspirations for the last year of your 20s?
A: My 20s have gone by so fast. Last year I was constantly helped by the people around me, but this year I want to do my best so that these people will say, "Mr. Kusanagi helped me," not every time, but a few times.

Born on August 23, 1991 in Aichi Prefecture, he formed a duo as "Miyashita Kusanagi" with Kanefumi Miyashita Taka in 2016. In 2018, they won third place in NTV's "Gurunai Omoshirosho - Give Young People a Chance to Sell This Year, Too!
