A comprehensive review of noteworthy works from the 2020 summer anime series that recently reached their final episodes! Houkago Teibo Nisshi" depicting a high school girl's fishing life, "Monster Musume no Oyasan" based on a fantasy novel by Dash-X Bunko, "I knew my youth romantic comedy was wrong" by Gaga Bunko, "Peter Grill and the Time of the Wise Men", a fantasy series by "Decadence", and an original title by Studio NUT. Houkago Teibo Nisshi

Based on a fishing manga serialized in "Young Champion Isetsu. The film is a 12-episode adaptation of the heartwarming daily life of the Teibo club, a club of four high school girls who work hard at fishing. The appeal of the film lies in the attention to detail in the depiction of fishing, such as the action of glancing behind to check for safety when flying a lure. The animation's ability to convey things in an easy-to-understand manner is fully demonstrated in the detailed depiction of how the bait should be inserted into the hook.
In particular, the scene in which the fish is taken off the hook is so well done that it is almost as good as a cooking animation, and one can't help but admire the spectacular handiwork. The film shows even the internal organs, which are rarely shown in animated films, and makes the viewer feel that fishing is a hobby that involves the consumption of life.

Monster Girl's Doctor

An animated fantasy novel set in a town where humans and demons coexist, in which Glen, a new doctor specializing in demons, runs a clinic. The patients he treats are all peculiar monster girls, such as a centaur with a hump-shaped lower body, a fresh golem made of dead flesh, and a gigantic mountain-like gigas. As he heals their ailments, the godhand who somehow captivates even their hearts is astonishing, reminding us of the fact that doctors are a popular profession even in the fantasy world.
Glen's sincere attitude toward any patient is also a highlight of the examination scenes. He rubs the minotaur's huge breasts to see if there is a tumor, and he accurately measures fever by directly touching the axilla instead of using a thermometer. In addition to Glen's childlike face, he is surrounded by large monster girls in many situations.

I guess my adolescent romantic comedy is wrong after all. Finished

This is a coming-of-age story in which Hachiman Hikiya, a cynical high school sophomore, becomes a member of the service club and solves the problems of the students. In the third season, its concluding episode, the love triangle between the heroine Yukino Yukinoshita and Yui Yuigahama comes to an end.
In this film, gestures are delicately projected as if to complement the feelings of the characters, who avoid direct language. The emotions of the characters are conveyed so well by the way they act, such as releasing each finger from their sleeves or gently wrapping their hands around the other's. The rap battle that begins abruptly in the seventh episode is another example of the work's attention to depicting hands in a way that is unique to this production. In the final episode, the hero and heroine finally sit next to each other in the club room. It is a famous scene that makes us realize that the work "Ore Gaile" existed to shorten this distance.

Peter Grill and the Time of the Wise Men

This is a fantasy in which Peter Grill, who has won a martial arts festival and earned the title of the world's strongest man, is subjected to all sorts of colorful tricks from beautiful girls of different races who are in search of strong children. The heroes of anime are stoic and do not go out of their way when approached by the heroine, but our Peter crosses the line all over the place. He has a fiancée, but ends up spending the night with her, and repeatedly makes love to her in the morning, soaking his pillow with tears of regret.
In the terrestrial broadcast and distribution versions, the breasts and buttocks are hidden by light, a technique typical of the late-night anime of yesteryear. Combined with the classic direction in which Peter's Peter is represented by an illustration of an elephant, this is a work that can be enjoyed with a nostalgic feeling.

Decadence

Humanity, on the verge of extinction, builds Decadence, a 3,000-meter-high mobile fortress, to protect itself from the threat of Gadol, an unknown life form. In a pinch, the human race transforms into a giant fist, the Decadance Cannon, and crushes its enemies. ...... is an original title that has created a stir with its unexpected twist that reveals the mystery of the world in two episodes.
In "Decadence," there are two differently designed characters, but it is not until the latter half of the story that they meet and appear on the same screen. The film's setting is a wonderfully unique example of how the mere cohabitation of two completely different characters can create a spectacle. The final episode, in which the hand-drawn characters are connected to the 3DCG decadence, is a fitting finale for this work.
